Manon Jeanne Phlipon (Manon Jeanne Phlipon, March 17, 1754 - November 8, 1793) was a famous politician during the French Revolution. One of the leaders of the Gironde Party. Her husband, Jean Marie Roland de la Platiere, was also one of the leaders of the Gironde party. Madame Roland was guillotined by the Jacobins on November 8, 1793. Before his execution, he left a famous saying at the Statue of Liberty that is well-known to future generations:
O Liberté, que de crimes on commet en ton nom! ("Liberty, how many crimes have been committed in your name!")
