Keep exploring and finally know who I am.
Growing up, I have been asking myself who I am and where I come from. Where are you going? I've been looking for it, but I can't find a clear answer. After reading the chapter "Theory and Practice of Children's Datura Painting Analysis", I cried with joy: I finally found the answer I wanted.

I was shocked to see Jung's mind map in the first part of the article. Isn't this the anatomical map of the mind? What kind of groping is needed to get such a simple and clear answer? Jung famously said, "Those who look inward are awake, while those who look outward are dreaming." Understand the inside and outside, and don't waste this life. Please see the picture below:

First, self

Jung's spiritual structure, the blue part of the outermost circle represents self, that is, our consciousness level.

Everyone knows himself and often replaces himself with "I". Jung thinks that ego is the core of my field of consciousness, and it is a representation and complex with strong continuity and identity. Self is the center of consciousness, based on reality, adapting to the internal and external environment, and composed of self-strength, psychological type and self-function.

Self-strength is the core of self, which can be measured by attention and judgment. If the ego is strong, it can effectively mobilize psychological energy and meet the requirements of learning and interpersonal relationships. If the self-strength is weak, the attention is difficult to maintain, the breadth is too narrow, it cannot be transferred flexibly, and even inappropriate judgments are made, which will affect the adaptation to reality.

Psychological type is an important theory used by Jung to describe the difference of self-consciousness. In today's society, this theory has been widely used in career planning through MBTI test. The main function of consciousness is awakening. In the awakening state, the individual's psychological activity is to make various judgments on the internal and external environment on the basis of attention. Psychological types are naturally formed and have eight main functions. Everyone has the potential to use these eight functions, but the difference in proficiency and familiarity makes the difference. If an individual wants to pursue the integrity of personality, he must make great efforts, because there are prototype forces behind every function that need to be broken, and it takes great courage and will to break through these prototype forces. Campbell, a master of comparative theology, called this process a heroic journey. If you want to embark on this journey, you must be very clear about your psychological type.

First of all, according to the flow direction of psychological energy, attention mainly points to itself and the internal psychological world as introversion (I), and attention points to external objects as extroversion (E).

Secondly, according to the processing of information, it is divided into four functions: the way of receiving information is divided into two irrational functions: feeling (S) and intuition (N), and the way of processing information is divided into two rational functions: thinking (T) and emotion (F). Among them, S will pay attention to the details and present of information, N will pay attention to the whole and the future, T will make logical judgments on information, and F will make value judgments on information.

Thirdly, according to the combination of attitude and tendency, it can be divided into eight types: es, EN, EF, ET, IS, in, IF and IT. There are four relationships among these eight types: auxiliary relationship, complementary relationship, attitude opposition relationship and function opposition relationship, IN which the auxiliary relationship IS the functional difference between the two types, such as ET and In, IS and EN. ComplemENtarITy rEFers to the opposite attitude and function, such as es and IN, en and IS, ef and it. Attitude opposition refers to the opposite attitude but the same function, such as es and IS, EN and IN. Functional opposition rEFers to the same attitude but opposite functions, such as es and EN, ET and ef.

The so-called know yourself and know yourself, fight a hundred battles, and finally determine your own advantages, auxiliary functions, complementary functions, disadvantages, and constantly blame and integrate, so that the self-psychological type will gradually improve. So in this life, I don't pursue perfect myself, but complete myself, so I have no regrets.

Self-function is mainly evaluated through real life and coping ability, combined with real events, to understand whether self is stable, how to control emotions, and whether it is seriously disturbed by complexity. Through Datura painting, we can also carry out auxiliary analysis. According to the five characteristics of self-protection, cohesion, integration, directionality and sacredness, combined with Datura painting, we can see whether the self is in the stage of self-development, whether it has the function of coordinating and resolving conflicts, and how to resolve emotions.

Second, the complex

Jung's spiritual structure, the green part of the second circle represents the complex, which is the unconscious level of the individual.

Complex is a psychological fragment formed by trauma in individual unconsciousness. If a person's complex is not cured, it will cause corresponding emotions in real life in the future, and it will continue to grow and develop unconsciously. For example, girls are sexually assaulted when they are very young, forming a complex. If she is not cured, it will affect the relationship between the two sexes when she grows up. ? Everyone's living environment and circumstances are different, and the complex formed is also different. Behind the complexity is that the prototype power is blocked, and the prototype power itself is not right or wrong. Many times, this complex is a misunderstood or distorted physiological or psychological need. For another example, when you were a child, you got 98 points in the exam, and you told your mother happily, but instead of praise, your mother who hated iron and steel didn't give it. You are too careless. It's that simple, you can't get 100. So once, twice, three times, and so on, you begin to feel that you are not satisfied with how to be a mother, so I am stupid, not good enough, and the feeling of unworthiness begins to form.

The negative influence of complex on individuals follows the principle of "the earlier the worse". If the trauma is formed before the age of 2-3, it is a "rooted" complex, which will lead to various psychological obstacles of the weak self and encounter practical setbacks in the process of growing up. Individuals will repeat early trauma because of their fragility and weak self-integration function.

Under normal circumstances, under the self's impetus, the eight psychological functions can develop from leading function to auxiliary function, secondary function and shadow function in turn, but the existence of complex weakens the leading function, hinders the development order of psychological function or makes the development of function stagnate, and finally affects the development of various functions of self.

The complicated reasons are emotional and psychological defense mechanisms. If you start to know the harm of complex, please start with your own emotional and psychological defense mechanism, such as why am I sad about this? Still anxious? Or guilt and so on. Why do you feel helpless about this emotion? Impulse? Abstinence and other defenses.

According to the emotional and psychological defense mechanism caused by complexity, it can be divided into four categories. First, shame (including embarrassment, shame, self-blame, guilt and regret) easily leads to defense mechanisms such as abstinence, retreat, morbid altruism, arrogance and victim identification; Second, anger (anger, hostility, resentment) easily leads to passive attack, reverse formation, turning to oneself, generalization, physical violence, reserved consent, identification with attackers and other defense mechanisms; Third, fear (anxiety, nervousness and worry) can easily lead to defense mechanisms such as temptation, anti-terrorism behavior, impulsiveness, excessive vigilance and exaggeration of attackers; Fourth, sadness (disappointment, helplessness, depression, pain) easily leads to identification, minimization, indifference, detachment, somatization and so on.

Dissolving the complex means that individuals can face the complex directly and realize that there are unmet needs behind the complex, so as to accept themselves or grasp themselves. The ego needs to actively distinguish between various voices and unconsciousness, understand the influence of various unconscious contents on itself, and coordinate the relationship between the inner world and the outer world. The ego needs to take the initiative and intrapersonal communication to strengthen the ego step by step.

Jung's mental structure, the yellow part of the third circle and the orange in the middle represent the self (prototype), which is the collective unconscious level.

Jung believes that self-nature is a dynamic process, which is the driving force of life. Self-nature is the most important prototype of the collective unconscious, which has the characteristics of integrity, hierarchy and motivation. The self-prototype directs the whole brain and is responsible for the orderly operation of the whole brain. Self-prototype can be described by self-motivation, image and emotion.

Self-motivation is the motive force of the mind. As the saying goes, don't forget your initiative, so as to achieve your ultimate goal. This initial heart is self-nature, which is the driving force of our life struggle. If you find yourself, you will find your own mission in life and push forward the mission of personal overload. Self-motivated will form a complex, causing psychological problems. It is conceivable that once people can't get out of psychological troubles, then people may struggle in these troubles all their lives, and the bitterness of life is nothing more than that. Through mandala painting, according to the seven stages of self-excited protection, differentiation, cohesion, integration, guidance, transcendence and enlightenment, and following the principle of nature, it develops from low order to high order and spirals up repeatedly. The higher the stage of self-motivation, the better the individual's mental health, the more perfect his personality and the closer to self-realization.

Self-image can be presented through Datura painting. Images and symbols are the result of tension between consciousness and unconsciousness, and are regulated by self. Prototype power is presented in the form of images and symbols at the level of consciousness. If the ego can understand its meaning, it can be in harmony with its own prototype. God in a narrow sense, Adam, cross, Tai Chi gossip, lotus, cosmic tree, etc. They are common symbols of self-nature, but they can only symbolize part of the power of self-nature, while Datura can fully express all the power of self-nature. With the help of Datura painting, we can actively imagine, thus achieving the purpose of activating self-motivation and realizing the integration of self and self.

Self-emotion is the self-prototype emotion generated by self-experience when self-motivation plays a driving role. Self-motivation at different stages, as well as whether the motivation works smoothly, will lead to different emotional experiences of the self. According to the seven-order model of self-motivation, the positive and negative feelings of self caused by self are as follows:

Power of protection: in a dangerous situation, exert your strength to protect yourself. If it goes well, it will constantly enhance the sense of self-security, and the self will have a sense of security and practicality; If the protective function is blocked, the self will feel uneasy, anxious and afraid.

Differentiation motivation: after the danger is lifted, the self will push the self to gain more new experiences, and the self will experience curiosity and enrichment; If the differentiation function is blocked, the self will feel boring and monotonous.

Cohesive power: self-nature pushes self to focus on things that conform to the prototype power, and self experiences concentration and selflessness; If the cohesion function is blocked, the ego will feel impetuous and uneasy.

The power of integration: self integrates the harmony between self and opposites in mind, and self can feel relaxed and happy; If the integration function is blocked, the ego will feel contradictory and tangled.

Guiding power: when the mind integrates the opposites to a certain extent, the self will play a guiding role and push the self to find the meaning of life and the value of existence. When the guiding function is exerted, the self can feel excitement, hope and mission; If the guiding function is blocked, the ego will feel empty and empty.

Transcendental motivation: to promote the self to become a unique and complete individual, and when it goes beyond its function, it can feel dedication and sacredness; If the transcendental function is blocked, the ego will feel sleepy and helpless.

Enlightenment motivation: when individuals are constantly moving towards integrity, self-nature pushes themselves to understand the true meaning of life. When the enlightenment function is exerted, the self can feel suddenly enlightened and ethereal; If the enlightenment function is blocked, the self will be confused and persistent.

Self-motivation develops spirally. Even if they belong to the same motivation, their emotions will be very different due to different levels.

In Jung's mind map, there are some words such as heterogeneity, paternalism and shadow. What do these represent? In addition to the self-archetype, there are other archetypes in the collective unconscious, such as Goddess, Shadow of Personality Mask, Anima, etc., which belong to the self-complex-the lateral branch of the self-axis and also the basic source of psychological motivation.

Mother God and Father God are dependent dimensions, the most basic and primitive structure of the mind, and the oldest and deepest part of the collective unconscious. In the infancy of an individual, they will push the baby to instinctively attach to his parents; When an individual becomes a parent, he can automatically activate his parents' instinct.

Personality mask and shadow are social dimensions. In the long-term biological evolution, in order to continue the race, human beings must abide by certain social norms and social ethics. In order to adapt to the society, under the impetus of social motivation, it presents the ideal characteristics of self to the outside world, which is the personality mask. Personality masks are often formed to get rewards or escape punishment. For self, personality mask is very necessary, which can make self adapt to society effectively and benefit from it. However, we should pay special attention to the harm of "mask inflation", which means that individuals identify themselves with a certain role and pretend to be that role. Then, his true self will be suppressed, and his family and friends will feel that he is hypocritical, and individuals will feel inferior and lonely because they can't meet the requirements and expectations of society. Shadow is an instinctive impulse, which is mostly rejected by social culture. Shadow, as human animal instinct, is often the source of a person's vitality. When a person suppresses the shadows too much, his life will become lifeless and lifeless.

Anima and animus are opposite-sex dimensions. In the process of evolution, men have female genes and hormones, and women also have some male genes and male hormones. Therefore, the individual's mind contains some heterosexual traits, but these heterosexual traits are often rejected by the self and are in an unconscious primitive state.

Eternal youth and old wizards are the dimensions of development. Eternal youth and old wizards are opposite archetypes, which are used to describe the time situation of psychological characteristics. It has both positive and negative aspects to describe the immaturity of mentality with eternal youth. It positively shows the novelty, growth potential and hope for the future symbolized by the child god. On the negative side, it is manifested in refusing to grow up and shirking responsibility, avoiding meeting the challenges in life. After a long and arduous struggle, the old wizard gradually established the rudiment of rationality, control and order, which is the root of authority and bureaucracy. The positive side of the old wizard is that he can make use of his rich life experience, give self-guidance and education, and ask himself to be pragmatic and practical; The negative side is stagnation, rigidity and cynicism, which will limit the self's acceptance of new changes and new experiences.

Everyone has a center, which contains this person's unique existence. This center will try hard to express itself, but the complex, prototype and even the voice of self will compete with this center and often cover up its own voice. Dr Christopher Ken Jimo, a psychologist at Harvard Medical School in the United States, has a book "If you don't confront yourself, you will be stronger". I think this self is the center, that is, the self. Friends who study yoga should have heard of Kundalini. My understanding of Kundalini is also centered and self-centered. Find this center and you will find your true self.
