Sodagi Kampo: Does Mount Sumi really exist?
Modern science and "giving up everything" have completely different understanding of the universe. However, whether different views contradict each other is indeed a very critical issue, because it is related to whether many Buddhists can establish their true beliefs. Everyone here has received the so-called science education since childhood, and must have always thought that the earth is a round sphere. However, now that you have learned all the theories of giving up, and this theory has also promoted the views of Xumishan and Nandao, are these two views of the earth and Xumishan compatible or contradictory? On this issue, I want to give you a little explanation here. If you don't talk about it, I think some people may get Jaken for it. It is said that there was a mage who was not a bad person at all, but after studying all the theories of giving up, he thought that Mount Sumi was against modern science and invisible to the naked eye, so he gave birth to Jaken in Buddhism, published some unreasonable articles, and his behavior was not quite like Fa. In this regard, some colleges also criticized his articles and behaviors. Some people may ask, "Why doesn't a mage who has heard about it for many years believe it?" ? Why is it still happening in Jaken? "In fact, this is because his thoughts are not comprehensive enough to form a system. Without the truth of Si Wen, not to mention the extensive and profound law, I am afraid that many people still cannot accept Xu Mishan's single point of view. Therefore, extensive listening and thinking is not only the premise of practicing Buddhism, but also the basis for Buddhists to lead their true beliefs. So, is there Mount Sumi? If so, how did it exist? This problem is worth discussing, and I hope you can have a really definite solution in your continuation. Last winter, we learned the truth about past lives and afterlife. Before that, many people have been deeply skeptical about the existence of past lives and future generations. After preaching Shangbeizi, even if some people still can't accept it, they can't come up with any reason to object. Past lives is the biggest concern of Buddhism and science, and a clear understanding of past lives is a key for human beings to really start to understand their inner body and mind. So it is necessary to study and study in this field. However, what we are going to study now is another problem, that is, how to look at the outside world, that is, how to understand the different world views of Buddhism and science. Buddhism and science have different explanations for the emergence, existence and destruction of the external world. Of course, it is difficult to master this principle with only a little wisdom. But as a Buddhist, if you can understand some basic truths, it will be of great help to practice. Here is a brief introduction to the "all abandon theory" and the different views of modern science on the world of artifacts: "all abandon theory" holds that the whole world of artifacts is first of all a wind wheel, and above the wind wheel is a water wheel. In the water wheel is the land of King Kong, and there are three continents, four continents and eight small continents dominated by Sumi Mountain. Mountains and several continents are like lotus flowers growing in the sea, and six beings live in such a flat world. According to modern science, human beings and their neighbors live on the earth, and the earth is a round sphere. Which of the above two different views is right and which is wrong? As Buddhists, we should believe in the existence of Mount Sumi and others. But many Buddhists are also embarrassed because they can't see it now. (Some people say that Xi's "Niuhuo Island" is American, but this is definitely wrong, because Xi's "Niuhuo Island" has saved lives for thousands of years; Some people say that Mount Sumi does not exist, because it is invisible, so it does not exist. However, this kind of reasoning has obvious defects. ) So, does Mount Sumi exist? If we recognize Mount Sumi, will we deny the earth? In this regard, our view is that both can be established, and both recognize the existence of Mount Sumi and the existence of the earth. First of all, we don't deny the existence of the earth. It is unreasonable to say that the earth is not round or does not exist in front of astronomers, because they think that the earth is round, not groundless. On the contrary, scientists observed in various ways through various advanced instruments and landed on the moon. After long-term observation and textual research from the moon and space, with sufficient evidence, it has long been proved that the earth is a round sphere. From Columbus to the present, although there are various differences within science, in most cases, the earth is round, but it is * * *. As a Buddhist, there is no need to deny what is universally recognized in the world. We believe that Mount Sumi exists, but there is no need to deny the earth, because the rationality of the earth theory has been confirmed by modern science, and the accuracy of modern science has also been generally recognized. The recent successful landing of China's first manned spacecraft is a proof. The successful test flight is obvious to all the people in the world, and no one can deny it. Scientists first predict how far it is, how many hours it will take, and so on, and every detail is very in line with the facts. Under the guidance of this rigorous calculation, the spacecraft landed as scheduled after launch. Visible science is very accurate and objective. With such accurate measurement and observation, it is convincing to claim that the earth is a round sphere, and there is no need to deny it. Besides, we don't deny the existence of Mount Sumi. Admit the existence of the earth, and Mount Sumi will disappear? Is it impossible for Buddhism to stand on its feet? No, we don't have to worry, because all the laws are not established in the real sense, but they are all manifested in famous sayings of different causes. The earth is a manifestation, and Mount Sumi is also a manifestation. All laws have no self-nature, and the reason why they have various manifestations is based on the different karma of all beings. For example, a bowl of water in front of a hungry ghost, even thousands or even all hungry ghosts, only sees pus, and there is no water at all, because because of the hungry ghost, only pus will be established in front of it; But in this bowl of water, you can't even see a drop of pus. The only thing you can see is water. Not pus and water, but hungry ghosts and people have different performances. However, no matter which form of expression, it is true to the audience. Therefore, for hungry ghosts, there is no need to deny the existence of pus. If we say, "This is not pus, it is water. "The hungry ghost will say," What I see is pus. Where is the water? "Because there is no water in the cause of the hungry ghost, it is certainly unacceptable to deny the pus seen in its present amount. Similarly, a bowl of water is placed in front of people. Although heaven and man say it's nectar and saints say it's mother Margo's mother, people won't accept it, because as far as human karma is concerned, all they see now is water, and nothing else. Therefore, the same bowl of water can appear in different ways in front of all beings with different causes, such as pus, water, manna, mother Mamaga or vanity. How to appear depends entirely on the different karma of different beings. By the same token, the same land where human beings live appears in the face of the earth in front of most people, but in front of all beings with purer karma (such as meditation or heaven and man), it will really appear in the face of Nanshan without a boat and Xumishan. It can be seen that everything seen by the present quantity is by no means true, because the six senses and their present quantity are nothing more than illusory laws. If these laws have substance, then there should be only one representation in front of any sentient beings. However, this is not the case, just like the earth and Mount Sumi. If both have entities, they will not be flat, and flat will not appear round, because they are completely opposite. But precisely because all origins are empty, empty can show everything, following the karma of different beings, that is, there are different appearances of the earth or Mount Sumi. The most crucial thing here is the origin theory of sexual emptiness, which is also widely publicized in the book Father and Son Meet. The origin of sexual emptiness is the real theoretical basis of Xumishan and other laws, and the emergence of Xumishan itself has many grounds. First of all, the Buddha initially claimed that Hinayana was right, mainly based on the Hinayana Foundation in India at that time. At that time, people in India thought that Mount Sumi existed, and India was the so-called southern branch continent. Based on this understanding, the Buddha also announced that Mount Sumi, together with all sentient beings. As the theory of entering China says: I will say whatever the world says. Secondly, Mount Sumi is also seen by some practitioners. If Buddhists practice according to the teachings of the Buddha, Mount Sumi, seven golden mountains and four continents can all exist. It is recorded in the Biography of Innocent Light Venerable that the Innocent Light Venerable was dragged around the whole four continents by Miao Yin Tiannv. A guru of the Chueh-nang Sect, who practiced in Lun Jingang, also saw the whole Mount Sumi and four continents in his realm, and all the appearances were the same as those described in "On Giving Up Everything". In addition, the Pilner Sutra also recorded that there was a severe famine in India at that time, and some monks flew to Luzhou with magical powers, where there was abundant food. After giving alms there, fly back to India with the avatar. Those who don't have the avatar can't go. This record shows that Luzhou, the northern capital, is real. At that time, King Nzab of Germany often saw many red eagles flying in the palace. The king asked, "Are those red eagles flying? "The ministers said," Those are not red eagles, but followers of Sakyamuni Buddha, and some monks are going to beg alms in Luzhou, the northern capital. After listening to this, the king said, "Since there is such a magical thing, I also want to study law." The ministers said: "Buddha Sakyamuni lives far away, so you may have difficulty learning Buddhism now." The king prayed, "If you really have magical power, Sakyamuni, please come to us!" " Later, the king offered an offering and prayed sincerely. Soon after praying, Sakyamuni Buddha really came to see him. The king prayed to teach him the way out. The Buddha told him to abandon the palace, but the king said, "I don't want to abandon the palace, even if I become a fox, but I can't abandon the palace." "So the Buddha taught him the special convenient method of tantric greed and initiated him, and then he became the Buddha at the moment. From this case-solving and many cases in Vishnu Sutra, we can know that Luzhou, the northern capital, is seen by many arhats and is true. Therefore, we can't deny the existence of Mount Sumi and others. According to all beings and times, the Buddha declared Mount Sumi, not the earth. However, as Buddhists now, we should recognize both Mount Sumi and the earth. Some people may ask: as a wise Buddha, why not promote the earth, which is recognized by everyone, and promote Mount Sumi, which is seen by only a few people? This is the unique advantage of the Buddha, and it is also caused by the compassion of the Buddha. If it is a color method that everyone can see, why should the Buddha announce it? If it is a simple truth that ordinary people can achieve by their own efforts, what good will it do to all beings even if the Buddha makes a proclamation? So the Buddha talked about Mount Sumi and the origin of sexual emptiness, because these are invisible and unimaginable to ordinary people. From here, we can see the overwhelming victory of the Buddha and the great compassion of the Buddha, because the Buddha pierced the false secular world in front of all beings with the sword of wisdom and guided them to become real. The realm of ordinary people is extremely limited. The Buddha has no obstacle to seeing all kinds of laws, and proclaiming all kinds of colors, such as Mount Sumi, and proclaiming all kinds of magic buddhas and other sentient beings, is nothing more than expanding the narrow knowledge of ordinary people. For some ordinary people can't see the magic, Buddha and other sentient beings, not to mention the Buddha, in the realm of some ordinary practitioners can also really appear. For example, a yogi said, "A fox talks to me every day and appears in front of me. "In this regard, many scientists and people in the world will not believe it at all and must think that he is talking nonsense. However, regarding the existence of the six sentient beings, the Buddha has long claimed that non-human beings appear in front of some people in various images, and the Buddha has made it very clear. The present situation of mankind is only a small space, and the rest of the infinite brake soil can't be seen now, but the existence of these brake soil is beyond doubt, because many people see some clean brake soil in their own existence. For example, the construction of the Golden Pavilion Temple was witnessed by a monk. When the monk came to this place, a strong wind suddenly blew. After the wind passed, a palace appeared in front of him. There are many monks chanting scriptures and doing Buddhist services in the hall. The monk stayed for a long time before the wind blew again. After the wind passed, the palace disappeared. Later, the monk built a temple according to the style of the palace he saw, which is now the "Golden Pavilion Temple" in Wutai Mountain. In addition, a tailor was dragged to another world by a non-human and made a lot of clothes there. He felt that he was in another world, so he put a piece of cloth for making clothes in his bag to prove it. When he came back, he quickly opened his bag and looked for the cloth. Besides, there is nothing. In fact, there are many similar things that have existed since ancient times, but ordinary people can't understand them, including scientists, because scientists are ordinary people after all. However, if you don't see it or can't explain it, you can't prove that it doesn't exist, because it must exist as long as it happens once, not to mention that people have seen it or heard it countless times. If we turn a blind eye to all this and think that these people have problems, then I am afraid there is something wrong with this attitude. Therefore, it is unreasonable to deny one thing easily, and it is not wise to deny its existence just because you don't see Mount Sumi. Facing the scientific statement, as a Buddhist, there is no need to be afraid to hold a Buddhist worldview, because we are absolutely convincing, and the Buddha has made the truth very clear. These are the different understandings of the world between Buddhism and science. Not only do we have different understandings of Buddhism and science, but we also have different views on the inherent superiority and superiority of Buddhism. The Mount Sumi declared in "All Abandonment" is just a statement in Buddhism, and not all views are the same. There used to be a great lion saint in India-an annotator of the solemnity of present views. In the annotation of the Prajna Sutra, the venerable said: Despite everything, the four continents and Mount Sumi are actually just a view of Hinayana on Dharma and Tibet (even in Hinayana, there are still different views); With Mahayana's view of law and Tibet, the world is boundless. Although Hinayana and Mahayana have different world views, their views are not contradictory, because all laws in victory are immortal, and in famous sayings, all kinds of worlds can be revealed. The above is the commentator's view. It can be seen that Buddhism not only recognizes one view of Xumishan, but also recognizes different world views, because there are all kinds of worlds. For example, the way of understanding the world in Hua Yan Jing is very different from the way of understanding in modern science and the theory of giving up the basics. The respected Genden Group once said: The view of "giving up everything" is not true, but the world view in the Mahayana classic is true. The idea of "giving up everything" is untenable because all sentient beings in India insisted on the existence of the world at that time, and the Buddha obeyed, so he declared the world of Sumi Mountain. The view of Mahayana is reasonable, because the world is infinite, and so is the Mahayana classic. The comparison between Hinayana and Mahayana has been done above. Let's briefly introduce Mount Sumiyama in Mishan. Tantric Buddhism also preaches Mount Sumi in The Wheel of King Kong, but it is not the quadrilateral mentioned by Hinayana, but the seven golden mountains are included, and Mount Sumi is basically similar to the present earth, but its real distance and shape are still different from the earth. Although the views of Mi Cheng's Xumishan and Hinayana are different, they are not contradictory. As stated in "Time and Empty Light", the cosmology of "giving up everything" will not hinder the cosmology of Tantric "Time and Empty". In this regard, I gave an example: "For example, the six-foot hole blessed by the Buddha and Bodhisattva can accommodate the king and his five families. When it was so accommodated, the wheel king and others did not shrink and the cave did not expand. It was only because of the blessings of the buddhas and bodhisattvas that both of them stayed in their original places, and the hole allowed the wheel king and others not to bully. " This example is to show that this seemingly contradictory manifestation can only be presented by the three blessings of various buddhas and bodhisattvas, while different Xumi Mountains have their own manifestations only by different karma. Just as some people are caused by their sins, small things will be regarded as big things; Or, like some hungry ghosts, they go to a very rich family and turn a blind eye to all the treasures at home. It can be seen that all the above are formed according to the good and evil karma of all beings. Therefore, it is also said in "Time Wheel King Kong, No Pollution and No Light": "Although the shapes and sizes of different worlds are different, it is better than the amount of eternity, and the Buddha reports different worlds according to the karma of different sentient beings." Therefore, Hinayana's view of "giving up everything" does not hurt tantric views. The omniscient Mai Peng Rinpoche said in "The Great Dilemma of the Wheel of King Kong": "The so-called different worlds are all spread according to the hearts of all beings." There is also a passage in On Bai Lianhua, when the Buddha was asked by the venerable relic: "How many times did you say that you had a motive? You said before the great Buddha Sakyamuni and another Buddha that you were motivated. How should you understand your so-called motivation? " The Buddha said, "When I say that the mind is different from the environment, I speak on the basis of the different foundations of all living beings." Therefore, we should know that different worldviews are also declarations made by the Buddha according to the different causes and foundations of all beings. It may be difficult to understand this question before understanding the reason why Mahayana originated in space, but this is really the key point. In short, if we understand the origin of emptiness, we can understand various viewpoints and scientific statements within Buddhism without any contradiction. If you don't know this, it's hard to refute the scientific statement. If we have to say that the earth is not round, but we must go to Anli as the Buddhists say, then where can we find the 80,000-day Mount Sumi? Is it in America, Asia or Europe? In the past, at the beginning of the establishment of the Chinese Buddhist Association, Dovasi bypassed the great Gesi, a very famous Buddhist and philosopher, Zuo Zongtang, and recorded this in his biography. One day, he said, "I must argue with them today!" Let all these people who admit that the earth is round be speechless and must argue with them! " Master Geng Dengqun and Pei were there. Master Geng Dengqun Pei said: "You can refute it, but you said that the earth does not exist. They may not answer you, and everyone will laugh at you. " In other words, the earth is what people see now. If it doesn't exist, it's like saying that pus doesn't exist in front of a hungry ghost. In this regard, a hungry ghost can only laugh, because he clearly sees pus. How can you convince him that it's not pus? Therefore, it is difficult to communicate with each other about the origin of the unexplained space. I heard that many mages and people who specialize in Buddhism often worry: "Will Sakyamuni Buddha talk nonsense?" Will we fail in the future? Will it be difficult for us Buddhists in this respect? "There will be no difficulty! As long as you understand the origin of this void, especially when you know that the Buddha declared different worlds for all beings with different causes, there will be no fear afterwards. Therefore, the theory of the origin of emptiness is very important. Based on this theory, Xu Mishan's point of view can be established. Of course, the existence of Mount Sumi is not only tenable in theory, but it can indeed show such a world in front of some basic beings, so I gave up the theory of everything and made such a preaching. However, although Mount Sumi exists, it is not real. If there is anything in the world, that is, it actually exists, then we can only talk about one thing, not many. For example, if every living thing lives on this round earth, then scientists must say so, and Buddhists must say so. But because the ontology of the earth is empty, the world presented to all beings with different causes is by no means the same. The Buddha preached different worlds under different teaching methods, and different worlds were attracted by different beings' karma, which is by no means illusory. Because of this, the best metaphor is that a bowl of water is different in front of six sentient beings. The same is true of our Larongfo College. There are two kinds of people who come here. Some people have great confidence in Buddhism and feel that it is really a paradise. The landscape here is different from other places, even the old goat is written as a bodhisattva. However, some people reject Buddhism. As soon as I came here, I said that the college was dirty and messy, and the fish and dragons were mixed. Their understanding of colleges is different, and the same colleges are different only because of the different foundations of all beings. In fact, is there anything good or bad in our reality? No, because everything does not exist in victory, it is empty, but in the famous saying, it varies according to the different karma of all beings, and its good karma shows the good; What its bad karma reveals is a bad place. In the past, Brahma came to the place where Sakyamuni Buddha lived, saying it was a clean place, but the Buddhist relic said it was not clean, and the two men argued endlessly. The Buddha asked, "What are you arguing about? Brahma said: "I said it was a clean place, but the relic denied it." "The relic said," What I saw was not clean, and he denied it. "The Buddha said," My brake soil was clean, just like Brahma said, but you can't see the relics. "It can be seen that the external environment is completely created by the heart. Different hearts will cling to the immediate appearance, while the rest of the hearts are difficult to be recognized because they are not present. Therefore, to the world, millions of living beings in Qian Qian only see the earth, because the earth is real when they look at the present amount of these living beings, and we don't need to break its present amount, and we can't break it. If you go to every scientist and say that what he sees is not true, and that the earth does not exist, only Mount Sumi exists, can you break each other? Obviously, this is impossible and unrealistic. Because breaking can only cover the existence of various laws in winning righteousness, it is not necessary to break the establishment of its present quantity in famous sayings. Therefore, only according to the viewpoint of the origin of Mahayana emptiness can we truly understand the different world views of Buddhism. If we can't reach the viewpoint of complete harmony, it is difficult to have confidence in Buddhism only by relying on the viewpoint of Hinayana Xumishan, because it contradicts the geocentric theory. And some people even have doubts about it, always worrying: "Is Sakyamuni Buddha's view of the universe wrong? "If we are wrong, we Buddhists are really embarrassed, because Sakyamuni Buddha is our teacher ..." Don't worry, because Sakyamuni Buddha knows all kinds of laws, and he made it clear about reincarnation, nirvana and even the behavior of all sentient beings more than two thousand years ago. Therefore, the Buddha's understanding of the world and the universe will not be neglected at all. How can you see it? We take the astronomical calendar as an example. For example, the Tibetan calendar is calculated according to the "Time Wheel King Kong". Sometimes there are two tens, sometimes there are no tens. According to this calculation, every fifteenth moon is round, which is based on the calculation result of Buddhist theory. But according to the lunar calendar, it is very likely that 16 is a full moon, or 17 is a full moon, so there is such an error. Therefore, precisely because we know the astronomical calendar of Buddhism, there will be no such fault, and precisely because we know the truth of the origin of emptiness, we will not fall into the contradiction between science and Buddhism. As "The Great Sparseness of the Diamond Wheel" and "The Smooth Sparseness of the Diamond Wheel" said: "Sakyamuni Buddha will never talk nonsense. It seems to violate his teachings, but there is nothing against it."
