Friedrich Nietzsche’s original words are:
Man?liebt?zuletzt?seine?Begierde,?und?nicht?das?Begehrte.
das? Begehrte comes from the verb begehren, which means "request, desire, desire, (male and female) pursuit". Begierde and das?Begehrte have very close meanings, but Begierde is an almost crazy desire that goes beyond basic needs, such as the pursuit of large amounts of wealth and endless beauty, and has a derogatory meaning.
This sentence comes from Nietzsche's 1886 work
