Creation background
This group of patriotic poems was written in the autumn of Song Guangzong Shao Xi (1 192) when Lu You was in Yin Shan (now Shaoxing, Zhejiang). During the Southern Song Dynasty, Jin Bing occupied the Central Plains. When the poet wrote this poem, the Central Plains had fallen into the hands of the Jin people for more than 60 years. Although it was early autumn, the summer heat was still strong, which made him unable to sleep peacefully. At dawn, he stepped out of the hedge door and touched his heart, forming this poem.
This poem is about great rivers and mountains, trapped in enemy lines, with the word "hope" as the eye, showing the poet's endless feelings of hope, disappointment and not despair. The poetic scene is majestic, serious, desolate and sad.
The broad masses of the people in the Central Plains have been severely oppressed and tortured for a long time, and they expect to restore their faith firmly and urgently, which has been fully expressed. With "Chen Hu" as the background, the feelings become more and more painful. The word "you" at the end of the sentence extends the upper limit of time. They looked forward to the Northern Expedition in the Southern Song Dynasty year after year, but this wish failed year after year.
