Master Xing Yun's most distinctive style is "one stroke" calligraphy. The master suffered from diabetes due to excessive hunger in his early years, and the complications led to blurred vision and difficulty in reading and writing. Because the eyes can't see clearly, when writing, you can only try to figure out the distance between words with your heart. A stroke requires a stroke, no matter how many words are needed, it must be done in one go. "One trick" is practiced under such circumstances.
Master Xing Yun's "one stroke" calligraphy is mostly composed of famous sayings and epigrams that persuade people to be kind, compassionate and tolerant, including Buddhist classics such as "Supreme Master" and "worldly solution", and philosophical quips that are closely related to people's lives.
