Neither is allowed. The present participle and the past participle have four grammatical functions in the sentence, and they are used in the same way.
1) As an attributive

2) Predicative: The news is exciting.We are excited.
3) Complementary: I'll have my watch repaired.
I heard her singing a song in English when I came in.

. The gerund (the same form as the present participle) can be the subject.
