Senior Brother, it is said in the Surangama Sutra that when Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva was in his previous life, he was under the seat of the ancient Buddha "Avalokitesvara Buddha". He entered samadhi from listening to and meditating on that Buddha. By cultivating this illusory samadhi, one can observe all sentient beings in the ten directions and hear their voices to relieve suffering. Therefore, Guanyin Bodhisattva was named "Avalokitesvara". At that time, Guanshiyin Bodhisattva stood up from his seat, bowed at the Buddha's feet, and spoke to the Buddha.
World Honored One, I recall that in the past countless kalpas of sand in the Ganges River, there was a Buddha named Avalokitesvara who appeared in the world. To that Buddha, I arouse bodhicitta. I listened to, thought about, and practiced this Buddhism, and then entered samadhi. When I first heard about it, I went into exile. Once you enter the silence, the two phases of movement and stillness are clear and do not arise. In this way, it gradually increases, and you can hear everything you hear. I can't hear it at all, and feel it is empty. The feeling of emptiness is extremely round, and the emptiness is emptied out. Birth and death have ceased, and cessation appears. Suddenly transcending the world and beyond the world, there is perfect brightness in all directions, achieving two extraordinary things. First, the original wonderful enlightened mind of all the Buddhas in the ten directions has the same compassionate power as the Tathagata Buddha. The two of them put their hands together, and all sentient beings in the six realms in the direction expressed compassion and admiration with all sentient beings.
World-Honored One, I will make offerings to Avalokitesvara Tathagata, and I will be taught by that Tathagata how to learn and practice vajra samadhi like an illusion. With the same compassionate power as the Buddha Tathagata, I will be able to achieve the thirty-two responses and enter all lands. . World Honored One, if all Bodhisattvas enter Samadhi, practice without leakage, and achieve perfect understanding, I will appear in the body of a Buddha and speak the Dharma to liberate them. If there are those who have learned, the silence is wonderful and the brightness is perfect, and the sublime and wonderful appear perfect, I will appear in front of them in the body of Alone Enlightenment and teach them the Dharma to liberate them. If you have learned to cut off the twelve conditions, the conditions are cut off from the supreme nature, and the sublime wonderfulness appears perfect, I will appear in front of them in the body of Pratyekabuddha and teach the Dharma to liberate them. If there are those who have learned, attained the emptiness of the Four Truths, cultivated the path and entered cessation, and the supreme nature has appeared perfect, I will appear in front of them as a voice-hearer and speak the Dharma to liberate them. If all sentient beings have a clear mind of desire, do not commit the defilements of desire, and wish to have a pure body, I will appear before them in the body of King Brahma and teach the Dharma to liberate them. If all sentient beings wish to be God and rule the heavens, I will appear before them as Emperor Shikamasha and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. If all sentient beings wish to be free and wander around the ten directions, I will appear in front of them in my free heavenly body and speak the Dharma so that it can be accomplished. If all sentient beings wish to be at ease and fly in the sky, I will appear in front of them in a great and free heavenly body and teach the Dharma so that it can be accomplished. If all sentient beings love to control ghosts and gods and save the country, I will appear in front of them as a great general in heaven and preach the Dharma so that they can be accomplished. If all sentient beings want to rule the world and protect all sentient beings, I will appear in front of them in the form of the Four Heavenly Kings and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. If all sentient beings wish to be born in the heavenly palace and drive ghosts and gods, I will appear in front of them as the prince of the Four Heavenly Kingdom and preach the Dharma so that they can be fulfilled. If all sentient beings wish to be human kings, I will appear in front of them as human kings and teach the Dharma so that they can be fulfilled. If all sentient beings love the Lord's family name and are respected in the world, I will appear in front of them as an elder and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. If sentient beings like to talk about famous sayings and live in purity, I will appear in front of them in the body of a scholar and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. If all sentient beings love to rule the land and divide the kingdoms, I will appear in front of them as a governor and preach the Dharma so that they can be accomplished. If all sentient beings love the art of numbers and protect themselves, I will appear in front of them as a Brahmin and teach the Dharma so that they can be accomplished. If there is a man who loves to learn to become a monk and upholds all the precepts, I will appear in front of him as a bhikkhu and preach the Dharma so that he can achieve it. If there is a woman who loves to learn to become a monk and keeps all the forbidden precepts, I will appear in front of her as a bhikshuni and preach the Dharma so that she can achieve it. If there is a man who is willing to uphold the five precepts, I will appear in front of him with an upasana and teach him the Dharma so that he can achieve it. If there is a woman who takes the Five Precepts by herself, I will appear in the form of an Upasika before her and teach the Dharma so that she can fulfill them. If there is a woman who is engaged in domestic affairs to build up her family and country, I will appear in front of her as a heroine and the wife of the country, and I will order her to speak the Dharma to everyone, so that it can be accomplished. If there are sentient beings whose male roots are not broken, I will appear in front of them in the body of a virgin and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. If there is a virgin who loves to live happily and does not seek violence, I will appear in front of her in a virgin body and teach the Dharma so that it can be fulfilled. If there are gods who are happy to speak out of heaven, I will appear in the heavenly body and speak the Dharma so that it can be accomplished. If there are dragons who are happy to be out of dragon relationships, I will appear in the body of a dragon and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. If there is a yaksha, it is a happy life, and I will appear in front of him, showing the body of the yaksha, and preaching the Dharma, so that it can be accomplished. Some of the Gandharvas were happy to be free from their behavior. I appeared in front of them as a Gandharva and preached the Dharma so that they could achieve their goals. If an asura is happy to be free from his destiny, I will appear in the body of an asura in front of him and teach him the Dharma so that he can achieve it. If a Kinnara is happy and free from his destiny, I will appear in front of him as a Kinnara and preach the Dharma so that he can achieve it. If Maharaja is happy to be free from his destiny, I will appear in the body of Maharaja in front of him and teach him the Dharma so that he can achieve it. If all sentient beings want to be happy and cultivate people, I will appear in the human body and teach the Dharma so that they can be accomplished.
If there are non-human beings who are tangible and intangible, have thoughts but not thoughts, and enjoy their lives, I will appear in front of them and preach the Dharma so that they can come true. This is called the wonderful pure thirty-two responses. When you enter the land body, you can achieve it freely with the wonderful power of Samadhi, hearing, smelling and cultivating without doing anything.
World-Honored One, I have heard and cultivated Vajra Samadhi again with this knowledge. I have no magical power, and I have compassion and admiration for all living beings in the ten directions, three times and six realms. Therefore, I will cause all living beings to achieve the fourteenth goal in my body and mind. A virtue of fearlessness. First, I do not follow Avalokitesvara myself, but I use it to observe the observers, so that the suffering sentient beings in the ten directions can observe their sounds, and then they will be liberated. The two kinds of knowledge and vision are reincarnated, causing all sentient beings to fall into the fire, but the fire cannot burn them. The third one watches and listens to the swirling and turning, so that all sentient beings can be swept away by the big water and cannot be drowned by the water. Fourth, eradicate delusional thoughts and have no intention of killing, so that all sentient beings can enter the kingdom of ghosts, and ghosts cannot harm them. The fifth one is smoke and smell, and the six roots disappear and recover, and they are the same as the sound, which can make living beings about to be harmed. The blades are broken, making them fight like cutting water or blowing light, and their nature is not shaken. Sixth, if one hears smoke and is shrewd, and the light pervades the Dharma Realm, all the darkness will not be complete, and it will cause living beings such as Yakshas, ??Rakshasas, Jupani tea ghosts, Vaishakas, Fudanas, etc. to be unable to see even if they are close to them. Seventh, the nature of the sound is perfect, and when you watch and listen, you can return to it and be free from all worldly delusions. It can make all living beings unable to be restrained by shackles. Eighth, the sound is extinguished and the sound is fully heard, and the power of kindness is everywhere, which can make all living beings pass through dangerous roads and thieves cannot rob them. Ninth, the smoke and smell are separated from the dust, and the color is indestructible, which can make all living beings with many sexual desires stay away from greed. The tenth is pure sound without dust, perfect root state, and has no opposites. It can make all angry sentient beings free from all kinds of hatred. On the eleventh day, when the dust is gone, the body and mind of the Dharma Realm are like glass, clear and unobstructed, which can make all the atyankas who are dull and obscuring, forever free from the darkness of ignorance. The twelve ones merge with the body and hear again, do not move to the Taoist temple, get involved in the world, and do not destroy the world. Able to travel throughout the ten directions, make offerings to the Buddhas Tathagata as they are as small as a speck of dust, and be the Prince of Dharma at each Buddha's side. It can make the childless beings in the Dharma Realm who desire men give birth to men of merit and wisdom. The thirteenth one has six round and open roots, with unparalleled illumination, covering the ten directions. A large round mirror is erected, and the Tathagata is hidden in the sky. Inherit and obey the Tathagata's secret method of being a mote of dust in the ten directions, and accept it without any loss. It can make the childless beings in the Dharma Realm who desire a woman give birth to a daughter who is upright, meritorious, submissive, loved and respected by everyone, and has a good appearance. Fourteenth, in these three thousand great thousand worlds, there are tens of billions of suns and moons, and the princes of dharma appearing in the world are sixty-two as many as the sands of the Ganges River. Cultivate the Dharma and set an example, educate and transform all living beings, follow and obey all living beings, use convenience and wisdom, and each is different. From what I have gained, I have perfected my fundamental roots and developed my wonderful ears. Then my body and mind are subtle and contained, and I can pervade the Dharma Realm. I can make sentient beings who uphold my name be equal to those princes who uphold the sixty-two sands of the Ganges and all the Dharmas. The merits of both of them will be the same. World Honored One, my name is no different from the many names of others. Through my practice, I can achieve true perfection. This is called the fourteenth act of fearless power that brings blessings to all living beings.
World Honored One, because I have attained this perfection and attained the supreme path, I am also able to acquire the four inconceivable and wonderful virtues of no action.
Firstly, I first acquired the mind of wonderful and wonderful hearing, and the essence of hearing and hearing, seeing, hearing and awareness cannot be separated, forming a complete and pure treasure consciousness. Therefore, I can manifest many wonderful appearances and speak boundless secret divine incantations. Among them there may be one, three, five, seven, nine, eleven, and so on, one hundred and eighty, one thousand, ten thousand, eighty-four thousand Shuojia Luosu. Two arms, four arms, six arms, eight arms, ten arms, twelve arms, fourteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty, to twenty-four, and so on to a hundred and eight arms, a thousand arms, ten thousand arms, eighty thousand Four Thousand Mother Dhara Arms. Two eyes, three eyes, four eyes, nine eyes, and so on, one hundred and eight eyes, one thousand eyes, ten thousand eyes, eighty-four thousand pure treasure eyes. Be it compassion or might, be it concentration or wisdom, save all sentient beings and gain great freedom.
The two of them are freed from the six worldly objects by my hearing and thinking, just like the sound of a wall, and cannot be hindered. Therefore, my wonderful power appears one by one and I recite the mantra one by one. Its shape and mantra can impart fearlessness to all sentient beings. Therefore, all the lands in the ten directions call me the one who bestows fearlessness.
The three of them have cultivated their wonderful, perfect and pure roots through me. When they travel around the world, they all make living beings sacrifice their treasures and ask for my condolences.
Fourth, I have attained the Buddha’s mind and realized it to the ultimate level. I can make offerings to the Tathagatas of the ten directions with all kinds of precious treasures. I can be close to all living beings in the six paths of the Dharma Realm. I ask for a wife and get a wife. I ask for a son and get a son. I ask for samadhi and get samadhi. Longevity leads to longevity, and in this way, seeking great nirvana leads to great nirvana.
When the Buddha asked about perfect enlightenment, I illuminated Samadhi from the ear door, and my mind was at ease. By entering the flow phase, I gained Samadhi and achieved Bodhi. This is the first.
World Honored One, the Buddha Tathagata praised me for my ability to achieve perfect enlightenment. During the assembly, he ordained me as the name of Avalokitesvara. I will watch and listen to the perfect brightness in the ten directions. Therefore, the name of Avalokitesvara spreads throughout the ten directions.
