"Gourmet" - Lu Wenfu
Lu Wenfu was born on March 23, 1928 in Taixing, Jiangsu. He graduated from Suzhou Middle School in 1948 and went to the Liberated Areas of Northern Jiangsu to participate in the revolution in the same year. In 1955, he began to embark on the road of literary creation. In 1956, he published the short story "Deep in the Alley" and became famous in one fell swoop. However, he was soon labeled as a rightist and was sent to rural areas and factories for labor reform for a long time. It was not until 1978 that he returned to Suzhou to engage in professional creation. Later, he served as vice chairman of Suzhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles and vice chairman of Chinese Writers Association. In his 50-year literary career, Lu Wenfu has made outstanding achievements in novels, essays, literary criticism, etc. He is best known for his outstanding works such as "Devotion", "A Family of Hawkers", "The Wall", "Qing Gao", and "Gourmet". He is well-known in the literary world, including "Novel Talk" and other literary essay collections, among which "Gourmet" is his most famous masterpiece.
