Why does this place talk about "diligently practicing and practicing more"? Gude's commentary says: A Bodhisattva deeply understands that "all karmic obstacles are caused by delusions." The source of suffering has nothing to do with others. We all have pain because we have bad associations in our hearts, so we have pain. Why do saints have no pain? A saint is in this evil world of five turbidities. He does not suffer because he does not have such wrong associations. Therefore, the root of all pain is our wrong saying, and this is the root of pain that should be eliminated. Therefore, if a Bodhisattva wants to escape suffering, he should practice the "Four Searches" diligently, find the source of the suffering, and then use the correct view of emptiness to eliminate it. This is called "diligence in practice."
This place says: When we know that the source of pain is the wrong association of the mind, it is not enough. You have to deal with it continuously, continuously. Because in our hearts, it is a very skilled state, a familiar state. Because we have been thinking in this direction for a long time, it has created a very deep gap in our hearts. You cannot fill it up. easy.
So we read ancient sages’ books. The first chapter of "The Analects" tells all gentlemen how to live in life, the first and most important thing - "Learn and practice it from time to time." . When we read the books of sages, we must constantly review and revise. Therefore, the ancients said: If you don't study for three days, you will look disgusting. Because you haven't studied the teachings of the sages for three days, there is only one result: you get involved with delusions. There is no third result.
I often hear some fellow Taoists say to me: Master! In fact, I already knew what you said. I am quite worried about this kind of people, because how can you keep practicing Buddhism in knowledge forever? If your practice of Buddhism always stops at knowing and your life is constantly spinning at this level, it will be difficult for you to break through because you have not practiced diligently at all. Without diligent practice, there will be no way to deal with the wrong associations in your mind, and you will not be able to improve your life phenomena. It is impossible!
So here, the key to success or failure is that in the process of learning Buddhism, whether we will continue to make breakthroughs, or stay in the same place forever, or even regress, is that you have to constantly listen to the teachings of the sages. Teaching and meditating on the teachings of sages is a key!
