Dong Cunrui (1933-1948) In 1945, the young militiaman Dong Cunrui joined the Eighth Route Army. He gradually became a resourceful and brave soldier in fierce battles and joined the Communist Party of China. In 1948, during the battle to liberate Longhua, our army was blocked by the enemy's bunker. Dong Cunrui rushed under the bridge with the explosive pack in his hand, but could not find the explosive holder. In order to ensure victory in the entire battle, he resolutely held the explosive pack in his hand, blew up the enemy's bunker, and heroically gave his life.
Qiu Shaoyun, in October 1952, his unit was responsible for attacking Highland 391, the "United Nations Army" outpost west of Jinhua. In order to shorten the attack distance and facilitate a sudden attack, on the night of the 11th, the army organized more than 500 people to lurk in the grass at the front of the enemy's position. Around 12:00 on the 12th, the US military blindly fired incendiary bombs. One of them landed near his lurking point. The grass immediately burned and the fire quickly spread to him. There is a ditch behind Qiu Shaoyun. As long as he takes a few steps back, he can put out the fire in the muddy water. However, in order not to expose the target and ensure the safety of all lurking personnel and the completion of the attack mission, he gave up self-rescue, gritted his teeth, and allowed the fire to singe his hair and skin. He persisted for more than 30 minutes until he died a heroic death. He fulfilled the steel oath he wrote in his application for joining the party: "For the world revolution and for the victory of the battle, I am willing to dedicate everything I have!"
After the war, the party committee of his army posthumously recognized him as a member of the Communist Party of China and posthumously awarded him the title of "Model Youth League Member". The headquarters of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army awarded him posthumous special merit and the title of "First Class Hero". The Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea posthumously awarded him the title of "Hero of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" and the Gold Star Medal and the First-Class National Flag Medal.
