How to answer GMAT logic questions faster
As we all know, China people's logical thinking is not rigorous enough, and the same problems exist in European and American cultures. During my undergraduate course, an article by American humorist Max Shulman left a deep impression on me-love is a fallacy. This paper analyzes some logical mistakes that people often make in daily life, such as wrong analogy and hasty generalization. These logical errors also appear in GMAT questions. The survey shows that many students are at a loss or are faced with a dilemma. As shown in the figure:

In view of these problems, the author mainly introduces a simple and easy-to-operate logic problem-solving method for general logic problems (except special items) to help candidates overcome difficulties.

General logic theme:

Teach you the simplest logical problem-solving method-center of gravity coincidence theory. It means that the answer to the choice of options cannot go beyond the logical category of the original text, otherwise the options are meaningless. The author gives a simple example to explore the mystery of the theory of center of gravity coincidence.

Example: Which of the following completed this article most logically?

Using the new detection technology, researchers found trace amounts of various medicinal substances in lakes and rivers. A large intake of these substances may have a serious impact on health, but their content is too low to have any physiological reaction to people who drink or bathe in these waters. However, medical experts believe that removing these trace elements from water will benefit public health, because _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _.

(1). Some medicinal substances found in lakes and rivers are harmless to human body even if ingested in large quantities.

(2). Some medicinal substances found in lakes and rivers can offset the possible harmful effects of other such substances found there.

(3). People who have adverse side effects when they are treated with drugs containing these substances usually change their treatment plans.

(4). Most drugs that reach lakes or rivers will quickly break down into harmless substances.

(E)。 Pathogenic bacteria exposed to low concentrations of certain medicinal substances will develop resistance to them.

I'm afraid it will take 5-6 minutes to think about this problem with normal logical thinking. In order to save the precious time of GMAT, we use the theory of center of gravity coincidence to solve it. The original text mainly expresses a small amount of medicinal substances harmful to health. Then it is ok to find one of several options in ABCDE that matches the original statement. A is obviously wrong. The word harmony has implied enough information, which is inconsistent with the original text. B offset means offset, which means good. It is also inconsistent with the original expression. C the problem of changing the handling method has nothing to do with the original text and is ruled out. Substance D is decomposed into harmless substances, which is the same as the error type of option A. Excluding the virus of diseases caused by E, it will produce drug resistance when it encounters low-level medicinal substances. This shows that this medicinal material is really harmful and completely conforms to the original meaning, so it is the correct answer.

Strange topic:

GMAC will also show its unique wisdom in logic topics, but this is undoubtedly worse for candidates. The author only gives an example to illustrate how to do such a problem.

A recent survey of all car accident victims in Dore County found that 80% of the drivers and front passengers who were seriously injured were not wearing seat belts when the accident happened. This shows that by wearing seat belts, drivers and front passengers can greatly reduce their risk of serious injuries in car accidents.

Unless which of the following is correct, the above conclusion is not appropriate.

(a) Among all drivers and front passengers surveyed, more than 20% wore seat belts in the event of an accident.

(b) In Dore County, more than 20% drivers and front-row passengers always wear seat belts when traveling by car.

(c) In the survey, more drivers and front passengers were seriously injured than rear passengers.

(d) In the survey, more than half of drivers and front-row passengers were not wearing seat belts in the accident.

(e) Most car accidents reported to the police in Dor County did not involve any serious injuries.

This problem is called the most intractable problem of GMAT over the years. This is actually very easy to do. The original text talks about 80%, and the most closely related is 20%. The answer is A. As for how it is derived, candidates can go to the CD forum to find the answer, so I won't go into details here. Summarizing these two examples, it is not difficult to see that the choice of GMAT answers always comes from the original text. However, many people do not agree with this. After visiting the students who took the GMAT exam in colleges and universities, we found the following phenomena: a large proportion of the students did not know that the answer came from the essential question of the original text, and they still solved the GMAT logic problem from the traditional deductive thinking mode; Some people know that the answer must come from the known information given in the original text, but feel that there is no way to start; Only a few people can get the correct answer from the original text more smoothly.

Conclusion: I hope all students can always remember the consciousness of the original text when doing the questions, so as to improve the accuracy of logic and get high GMAT scores!
