Confucius' famous sayings in "The Analects" are as follows:
1. If your parents are around, if you don't travel far away, you will have a good way to travel.
When your parents are alive, try not to travel far away or stay away for a long time, so as not to make your parents miss and worry. If you have to go out for unavoidable reasons, make arrangements at home in advance and tell your parents where you are going, what you are going to do, and when you will be back. Explain all these clearly before leaving.
2. Those who are near are pleased, and those who are far away are attracted.
If you can make people nearby like you, then people from far away will naturally come to join you.
3. If you are not angry, you will not be enlightened, and if you are not angry, you will not be angry.
If it is not to the extent that he must understand it, do not enlighten him; if it is not to the extent that he already understands but cannot express it perfectly, do not enlighten him.
4. Clever words and charming words, fresh and benevolent.
Anyone who is smooth-tongued, adapts to the situation, and is good at pleasing others is generally not a kind person and should beware of it.
5. Getting rich and noble unjustly is like a floating cloud to me.
Everyone wants wealth, but if wealth is obtained by doing things that violate morality, then to a gentleman, it is like floating clouds and has no meaning.
6. A scholar who aspires to the Tao but is ashamed of bad clothes and bad food is not worthy of discussion.
The study of things is the first subject in self-cultivation and scholarship. If a person is determined to study and practice Taoism, but he is ashamed of himself because he is not well-dressed and well-fed, it means that he has not yet started, so there is no need to talk to him. Let’s talk about knowledge.
7. If his body is upright, he will not do what he is told; if his body is not upright, he will not do what he is told.
As the saying goes: "If the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam is crooked." If you want to lead others well, you must first set an example and lead by example. Only in this way can you convince the public. If you can't do it yourself, but ask others to do it, others will I won't be convinced anymore.
8. He who listens to the Tao and talks in vain is the abandonment of virtue.
Hearing some news on the roadside and spreading it everywhere without verifying it is something that a virtuous person will not do.
9. People who have no long-term worries must have immediate worries.
If a person does not have long-term considerations and plans, there will definitely be troubles in front of him.
10. Don’t do to others what you don’t want others to do to you.
When getting along with others, don’t impose things on others that you don’t like to bear.
