In the early 1950s, shortly after the founding of New China, the once glorious Wuyishan tea industry was at a historical low due to long-term war and turmoil. At that time, the output of tea in Chong 'an County was less than 1 1,000 tons, which was only about110 of the current output of Wuyi Rock Tea. As soon as Yuet-Ming Yiu arrived in Wuyishan, he devoted himself to the scientific research practice of tea garden restoration and cultivation. He was responsible for planning, surveying and designing the first mechanized tea garden in China-Chong 'an Tea Garden, with an area of more than 4,000 mu. At the same time, it is also responsible for the rough processing of Wuyi rock tea and the cultivation of new varieties, as well as the investigation of Wuyi famous fir, Wuyi soil, Wuyi farming methods and tea pests and diseases. In order to do a good job in the investigation, he and the professor and tea teacher walked from one hill to another with kettles, steamed buns and compasses in their hands, and recorded the geographical location, growth environment and varieties of each tea garden in detail. Eat steamed bread when you are hungry and sleep wherever you go at night. I don't know how many hills I ran and how many nights I slept on them. Finally, I wrote my first paper "On Wuyi Farming Law", which later became the teaching material of secondary specialized schools.
For decades, his scientific research achievements have been fruitful. In the sixties and eighties of last century, the roasted green tea he tackled was named the Senior Lotus Heart of Chong 'an Tea Farm. Wuyi narcissus, as the main diplomatic gift tea of the country at that time, was rated as an excellent product of the Ministry of Agriculture. A number of special surveys have been carried out, such as Investigation on Diseases and Insect Pests of Wuyi Famous fir, Wuyi Tea Area and Wuyi Rock Tea Cultivation Method. 1958 designed and used the first withering pot-four-pot combined frying type water-fixing machine in Fujian province, 1959 designed the first double-row combined shaking water-fixing machine for oolong tea.
1983 or so, Chong 'an Tea Farm, as the largest leading enterprise at that time, was in trouble, with a debt of more than 2 million yuan. At that time, the leaders of Chong 'an County found Yuet-Ming Yiu and asked him to be the on-site commander to lead the enterprise out of the predicament. 1984 At the beginning of this year, Yuet-Ming Yiu was ordered to face danger. He led sales staff to three northeastern provinces, Shanghai and Nanjing in the north and Guangzhou and Xiamen in the south, and sold out more than 4,000 bags of tea in stock. The tea farm finally came back to life and turned losses into profits, and the business in the field began to improve. After that, it took Yuet-Ming Yiu two years to pay off more than 2.7 million yuan of old debts and build a factory worth more than 2 million yuan.
1987, when the business was on the right track, Yuet-Ming Yiu resigned as the site director and returned to his study to engage in scientific research.
Wuyishan, the holy land of tea, has attracted a large number of experts and scholars in the tea industry. Almost all tea authorities in the country have stayed here. Contemporary Cha Sheng Wu Juenong stayed in Wuyi for 10 years. After Mr. Wu's death, three national tea authorities-Professor Chen Jue, the tea-making authority, Professor Zhuang Wan Fang, the cultivation expert, and Professor Wang Zenong, the tea chemistry expert, all lived in Wuyishan for a long time. Since Yuet-Ming Yiu came to Wuyishan, he has been hopelessly infatuated with mountain tea. In Anhui University, Yuet-Ming Yiu is a proud disciple of Professor Xie Chen. When he graduated, Professor Chen suggested that Yueming stay in school to teach. Young Yuet-Ming Yiu thinks that if you want to know about tea, you should go to the place where it grows. So he was assigned to Chong 'an Tea Farm. Three years later, Mr. Chen Lao came to the tea garden and invited Gao Zu to return to school to teach. Yuet-Ming Yiu was fascinated by the rich variety and unique quality of Wuyi Rock Tea and refused to leave easily. Chen Lao had no choice but to give in: I'll give you another seven years. Seven years later, Mr Chen Jue arrived as scheduled, but he was disappointed again.
Yuet-Ming Yiu's investment and efforts were not in vain, and he played an indelible role in the spread of Wuyi Rock Tea at home and abroad.

Yuet-Ming Yiu's research on Dahongpao cultivation began in the early 1950s. 1953- 1955, together with Ye and two old tea experts from Wuyi Mountain, we made an investigation on Wuyi famous fir. During this period, Yuet-Ming Yiu cut off several long spikes from Dahongpao's female parent and planted them in the experimental field behind the office. In the middle and late 1980s, Dahongpao began to supply foreign trade, but the quantity was very small. With the maturity of science and technology and the wide application of asexual reproduction technology, many tea farmers in Wuyishan have planted Dahongpao, and the planting area has reached dozens of acres. However, due to the unusual relationship between Yao Lao and Dahongpao, the price of Dahongpao, which he personally supervised, is still dozens or even hundreds of times more expensive than other Dahongpao. The Dahongpao signed by Yao Lao every year is only 20 kilograms, which has become a strange commodity that tea merchants everywhere compete for.
50 years is just a flick of a finger. Today, Yao Lao, who lives in poverty and happiness, and his wife live in a two-bedroom apartment in the Wuyishan municipal government compound. He is still very busy every day, especially from March to July every year. During the period of picking and making tea, he walked between the tea garden and the factory every day, providing free technical guidance for tea farmers.
Yuet-Ming Yiu, a master of Wuyi Rock Tea, has forged a "love of life and death" with Wuyi Rock Tea all his life.
