Postscript of Nasreddin Avantimamir's Works
The Book of Sword and Revenge is my first novel. It has been twenty years since 1955. I come from Haining, Zhejiang. I have heard the legend of Emperor Qianlong since I was a child in my hometown. When I was a boy scout, I camped in the stone pond built by Emperor Qianlong of Haining, and watched the surging tide come in at midnight. So naturally, the first novel wrote the story that impressed me the most. But I made up the role of Chen Jialuo. Princess Xiangxiang is not a legendary or historical princess. Princess Xiangxiang is much more beautiful than Princess Xiang. The illustrations of ChristianRandPhillips attached to this book are only for readers to see that Qianlong has such a concubine. Haining belonged to Hangzhou Prefecture in Qing Dynasty, a small coastal county, which was only famous for its tides. Famous figures in modern times include Wang Guowei, Jiang Baili and Xu Zhimo. There are some melancholy tones and tragic meanings, and some are out of place. Chen Jialuo, maybe there is a little shadow of these people. However, there are no military people in Haining. Even Jiang Baili, a military scientist, can only talk about force without using force. Meng Sen, a historian, believes that Qianlong is an unreliable legend of the descendants of Chen in Haining, and the legend of being killed by Empress Dowager Cixi is also false. Historians certainly don't like legends, but people who write novels do.

Gan Long went all out to build Haining seawall until it was completed, which benefited the people. I write him badly in my book, and sometimes I feel a little sorry. It doesn't matter much that his poems are not well written. Only when I was a child, I saw the stone carvings of his imperial poems everywhere in Haining and Hangzhou, and I was really disgusted. Now, after reading the copy of the famous painting, I still see his inscription everywhere, and I can't stand it without satirizing him. I have never practiced calligraphy except writing red plaid in primary school. The title and signature written on the cover are not worthy of a calligrapher. I know nothing about poetry either. I didn't know anything about poetry until I recently revised this book and read the Law of China Poetry by Mr. Wang Li for the first time. This is just imitating the poems of Qianlong, but it is naive to imitate the poems of Chen Jialuo and Yu Yutong. In his first work, Chen Jialuo's original name was Xie Yuan. However, trying to Xie Yuan's poems can't be so clumsy. Therefore, when he revised them, he cut off his own foot and cancelled his title of Xie Yuan. Although Yu Yutong is only a scholar, his poetry should not be such a beginner. However, his nickname is "Golden Flute Scholar", and his fame and fortune are slightly flexible and will not be abolished. The return of this book is not done well either. In the first edition of this book, it was completely flat and even, but now it is only slightly improved.

This book was first serialized in the newspaper, and later published in a single book. Now I have revised the reprint, and almost every sentence has been changed. Even the third proof has been completely changed. I often feel guilty for the brothers Cai Yanpei, who is in charge of proofreading, Chen Dongxiong, the typesetting foreman of Ming Pao Publishing Department, and other workers.

The collection of Jin Yong's works is estimated to have about forty volumes. Each volume is accompanied by color illustrations, hoping that readers (especially foreign readers) can get in touch with some domestic cultural relics and artworks. If you think the novel itself is too boring, just look at the pictures. The seal of "Jin Yong's Works" at the back of the book was made by the engraver Mr. Yi Yueshi. I sincerely thank you.

I am deeply grateful to Brother Shen Baoxin and Brother Chen Huasheng for their great assistance in publishing and printing the anthology.
