Traffic setting at efficient intersections

This setting is suitable for+intersection, Y intersection or other intersections with more than four lanes and a large number of motor vehicles, non-motor vehicles and pedestrians mixed.

At present, the facilities at the intersection are usually set as follows: 1. A crosswalk is set at the motor vehicle exit at the intersection, and a motor vehicle parking line is set behind the crosswalk. Traffic lights are set at every intersection, and vehicles in the north-south direction are released at the traffic lights. When vehicles in a certain direction are green, pedestrians in the same direction are also green. The setting and management of this traffic intersection basically does not consider the interests of pedestrians. When pedestrians cross the road, they should compete with motor vehicles turning left and right and pedestrians turning left. 2. Set a right-turn motor vehicle-only road at a sufficiently wide intersection, and set the triangle between the straight motor vehicle lane and the right-turn motor vehicle lane as a pedestrian waiting area. Although pedestrians crossing the road can avoid grabbing the road with motor vehicles, this intersection has the disadvantages of large investment, wide area, complicated road conditions, left-turning pedestrians crossing the road twice and long waiting time. Because the existing traffic light design does not treat the rights and interests of pedestrians equally, pedestrians have long ignored the authority of traffic lights.

The traffic at the intersection is directed by the command light, as shown below:

1. Pedestrian passage time: the traffic lights of motor vehicles in all directions are red, and motor vehicles are prohibited from passing. The small-caliber pedestrian lights on the isolation column are all green, and pedestrians can choose the shortest path to pass the intersection at will.

2. Traffic time of motor vehicles: pedestrians indicate red lights in all directions, and pedestrians are prohibited from passing;

The passage time of motor vehicles is divided into straight time and left turn time, and the straight time and right turn time allow vehicles to wait ahead as much as possible; Vehicles are allowed to turn left and right during the left turn period.

The advantages of this kind of intersection layout are:

1. Various traffic demands are not contradictory, and traffic lights have clear authority to direct traffic.

2. Make full use of the road and let pedestrians cross the intersection with the shortest path.

3. The setting of the central safety island allows pedestrians to have a stopover time when crossing the intersection obliquely, which reduces the possibility of collision between people and vehicles.

4. Less construction investment and less land occupation.

5. Low and dense isolation columns with small-caliber command lights at the top can effectively prevent pedestrians from leaning forward.
