In fact, it is better to check the standard ancient official script. I recommend a Chinese Character Illustrated by Xu Shen edited by Wu. There are 1000 basic characters in it, and each basic character has several forms, such as Oracle Bone Inscriptions, bronze inscription, seal script, official script and regular script, and there are pictures to illustrate the structure and meaning of the font.
