Details during the interview

1. Clothing

Do not dress too casually and iron clothes that can be ironed. But you don’t have to wear a suit, as it can easily give people a stereotyped and rigid impression.

2. Waiting

Your mobile phone must be turned off when entering the waiting room. Try to sit where you can hear the staff calling names, listen carefully to the staff's voices, and don't just chat with the comrades around you.

3. Politeness

Knock twice before entering, open the door, close the door gently, and then say good morning or good afternoon. When speaking to the visa officer, smile and look him in the eye. When passing materials behind large glass, use both hands. When leaving, whether you are rejected or approved, say thank you and gently close the door.

4. Materials

You must bring the original materials into the interview room in person. Do not look at the materials after entering. You can only take them out to the visa officer when he requests them. Familiarize yourself with all the materials and figure out where they are beforehand to avoid being overwhelmed later. When you can't hear clearly, you have to dare to say, I'm sorry, I didn't hear clearly. The visa officer won't mind, but don't always hear clearly, so as not to arouse his resentment. All materials should be memorized, especially sensitive time and numbers.

5. Language

The main purpose of the interview is not to test your language ability, but to review your motivation for going abroad. Therefore, applicants who do not speak well do not need to panic when interviewing with the visa officer. But if you think your English is good enough, talking to the visa officer in Chinese can avoid visa failure due to translation problems.

When talking about your study plan, don’t show signs of memorizing it. Try to be as natural as possible, with a relaxed tone. It doesn’t matter if you pause and think about it for a while.

6. Time

The interview can take 1 minute as quickly as possible and 30 minutes as slow as possible. Fast or slow does not affect your visa, because the personality of the visa officer is different, and it has a lot to do with the materials you prepare.
