1. How to apply for China passport renewal?
(1) You must apply in person.
(2) Fill in the Application Form for Passport Travel Documents of the People's Republic of China truthfully, completely and clearly.
(3) Submit 2 photos of my recent passport. Photo specifications must meet the following requirements:
(1) a small 2-inch passport photo with bareheaded face (48×33 mm, the head width of the portrait should be between 2 1-24 mm, and the head length should be between 28-33 mm);
② Use glossy paper for photos. Do not accept remake photos, black-and-white photos or color printed photos;
③ The background should be white or light blue.
(4) Holding the original China passport.
(5) Copy of current China passport (except blank pages). Please copy on A4 paper.
(6) If you have obtained a permanent residence visa (PR) in Australia, you need to fill in the declaration of not joining foreign nationality (the declaration can be downloaded from this website or obtained at the visa office of the Consulate General).
(7) Bridge visa holders are required to provide relevant letters issued by the Australian Immigration Bureau or other documents that can prove the visa situation.
Please note: If a father or mother shares a passport with their children, all parties involved in the passport must apply to the Consulate General at the same time.
2. If my passport is lost or damaged, how can I apply for a replacement China passport?
(1) You must apply in person.
(2) Fill in the Application Form for Passport Travel Documents of the People's Republic of China truthfully, completely and clearly.
(3) Submit 2 photos of my recent passport. Photo specifications must meet the following requirements:
(1) a small 2-inch passport photo with bareheaded face (48×33 mm, the head width of the portrait should be between 2 1-24 mm, and the head length should be between 28-33 mm);
② Use glossy paper for photos. Remake photos, black-and-white photos or color printer photos are not accepted.
③ The background should be white or light blue.
(4) provide a copy of the original passport. If it is really impossible to provide a copy of the original passport, it shall provide the original and copy of the People's Republic of China (PRC) ID card, or the original and copy of the birth certificate with photos. Please copy on A4 paper.
(5) Provide the original and photocopy of the Australian visa letter issued by the Australian Immigration Bureau. If you have obtained a permanent residence visa (PR) in Australia, you need to fill out a declaration of not joining foreign nationality. If you are a student, you should provide a certificate of study issued by the school.
(6) A complaint confirmation form issued by the Australian police is required. Loss reporting shall indicate the loss reporting number.
Please use A4 paper to explain in detail how your passport was lost or damaged.
(8) Other materials required by consular officials.
Please note that it takes a long time (generally 20 working days) to reissue a lost or damaged passport, and there is no need to go through emergency procedures. Consular officials will call the applicant to inform him when to collect his passport.
3. What are the precautions for applying for a new China passport?
(1) You should apply before the passport expires. The current passport can be renewed before it expires 12 months. It takes 15 working days for the Consulate General to apply for a new passport, and the fee is 80 Australian dollars. There is generally no express service.
(2) If the passport expires for half a year, it shall be reissued. The fee is 150 Australian dollars.
(3) Passport is an important travel identity document and should be properly kept. If the passport is lost or damaged, a new passport should be issued in time. The processing time is generally 20 working days. The fee is 165 Australian dollars.
4. Do Australian-born newborns apply for China passports?
Newborns born in Australia, if both parents are China citizens, and neither of them has obtained permanent residency (PR) in Australia at the time of birth, and they have China nationality, can apply for a China passport according to law.
Newborns born in Australia cannot apply for China passports if one of their parents is an Australian citizen, or if they have obtained permanent residency (PR) in Australia and have Australian citizenship at birth.
For a newborn born in Australia, if one parent is a citizen of China and the child was born without permanent residency (PR) in Australia, but the other parent is a national of a third country, if applying for a China passport, proof that the child does not have the nationality of a third country is required.
The requirements for newborns to apply for China passports are as follows:
(1) Both parents take their children to the library and fill out an application form for a China passport travel permit.

5. How to add "alias" to passport?
If the passport holder's name is written or spelled in other ways, or changed to husband's surname because of the need of marriage, he can apply for adding "alias" based on the legal documents issued by Australian government agencies on changing his name. The specific procedures are as follows:
(1) You must apply in person. Fill in the Application Form for Filling in Passports of the People's Republic of China truthfully, completely and clearly.
(2) Submit a 2-inch recent bareheaded color passport photo and paste the photo on the application form.
(3) Submit the original passport.
(4) Photocopy of photo information page and visa page (please copy on A4 paper).
(5) The original and photocopy of the certificate issued by the Australian Marriage Registry.
(6) The fee is 20 Australian dollars. The processing time is 4 working days. It can be expedited.
6. Can the Consulate General handle passport annotations such as recent photos, marital status, date of birth, place of birth, etc?
The Consulate General does not handle recent photos and remarks on marital status; Notes that change the date and place of birth are not processed.
7. Who can apply for the People's Republic of China Travel Permit?
People's Republic of China (PRC) Travel Card is an emergency international travel document instead of passport, which is issued to China citizens who have mobility difficulties or do not need a passport. Travel permits are generally valid for two years. Travel permits are mainly issued to:
(1) Hong Kong and Macao compatriots travelling to Chinese mainland with valid Hong Kong or Macao SAR passports.
(2) Taiwan Province compatriots who hold valid Taiwan Province "passports" and have not joined foreign nationalities go to the mainland.
(3) China citizens who are in urgent need of returning to China without valid China passports.

8. How to apply for a Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China?
(1) The applicant himself applies. Fill in the Application Form for Passport and Travel Permit of the People's Republic of China truthfully, completely and clearly.
(2) Submit 2 photos of my passport. Photos shall meet the following requirements:
① A small 2-inch passport photo with bareheaded front (48× 33mm, the width of portrait head should be between 2 1-24mm, and the length of head should be between 28-33mm).

9. How long does it take to apply for a travel permit for the People's Republic of China and how much does it cost?
It usually takes 4 working days and costs 40 Australian dollars. With the consent of the consular officer, special circumstances may be expedited. Pick-up charge is 50 Australian dollars on the second working day and 30 Australian dollars on the third working day.
10. How do Hong Kong and Macao compatriots apply for documents when they go to the mainland?
(1) According to the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region and related regulations, after the return of Hong Kong and Macao to the motherland, Hong Kong and Macao will implement different entry and exit management. China citizens from Hong Kong and Macao who want to go to the Mainland shall hold a valid Home Visit Permit for Hong Kong and Macao compatriots ("Home Visit Permit"). Hong Kong and Macao residents may apply to the authorized units of the Ministry of Public Security in Hong Kong or Macao Special Administrative Region.
(2) China citizens from Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions who go to the Mainland without a valid Home Visit Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Compatriots may apply for travel permits from local embassies and consulates abroad.
Please note: Hong Kong and Macao residents who have obtained foreign nationality should apply for visas to China with this foreign passport.

12. How do Taiwan Province compatriots who do not hold a valid mainland travel permit for taiwan residents go to the mainland to apply for their certificates?
(1) Taiwan Province compatriots who do not hold a valid mainland travel permit for taiwan residents can apply for a travel permit of the People's Republic of China. Please refer to question 9.
(2) Taiwan Province residents who have obtained foreign nationality should apply for visas to China with foreign passports.
13. How do business passport holders apply to the Consulate General for extension, renewal and replacement of their business passports?
Holders of official passports should first apply to the original issuing authority for official passports according to the affiliation of the parties (units), and the original issuing authority will formally notify the Consulate General. The applicant shall go through the relevant formalities according to the following requirements after receiving the notice from the domestic dispatched unit:
(1) I come to the library to apply, and fill in the China Passport Travel Permit Application Form or the China Passport Extension Application Form truthfully, completely and clearly.
(2) Submit 2 photos of my passport (1 photo delayed due to official passport). Photo specifications must meet the following requirements:
(1) a small 2-inch passport photo with bareheaded face (48×33 mm, the width of portrait head should be between 2 1-24 mm, and the head length should be between 28-33 mm);

The service passport renewal fee is 20 Australian dollars, the service passport replacement fee is 40 Australian dollars, and the service passport replacement fee is 80 Australian dollars. The processing time is 4 working days. With the consent of consular officials, emergency services can be provided under special circumstances. Emergency services should be put forward at the time of application.
