Recently, I discovered a strange phenomenon. The more people love learning, the more anxious they become.
It stands to reason that people who love learning and reading should be fulfilling and calm every day and should not be so anxious.
But the real situation is almost exactly the opposite. The more you study, the more anxious you become.
Yesterday, a reader in the writing group asked me a question: Teacher Hongdan, after get off work every day, I am also learning web front-end, investment and financial management, English, writing, and mind mapping. I feel that every day I’m so tired and anxious every day, what should I do?
He had no time for entertainment at all. He studied at 2 a.m. every day, and dragged his exhausted body to work the next day. He yawned repeatedly during the day, and his work efficiency was low. He was trapped in a vicious cycle from which he could not extricate himself.
Before I answered his question, my friends in the group echoed: Me too, I want to learn too much, but no one is good at it; I want to learn everything, but I don’t have enough time. .
In the era of fragmentation, many people have fallen into a vicious cycle of learning anxiety. I was busy buying books, stocking up on classes, chasing people, and spent a lot of money every day, but in the end I made little progress. I feel so anxious every day: What should I do? The more they study, the more anxious they become, the more anxious they become, the more lessons they buy, and they are exhausted every day but are stuck in the same place.
It makes me cry when I talk about it, and I used to do the same. But now, I have got out of the predicament of study anxiety and live the life I like every day. I have a full-time job and write more than 1,000 days a day in my spare time. I have published 770,000 words and am a contracted author. I also organize a 21-day love writing training camp and lead more than 2,000 friends to start writing from scratch. In addition, I write every year Read more than 100 books and wrote more than 50 book reviews.
How do I get rid of study anxiety?
The answer lies in my new book "The Pattern of Time: Let Every Minute Add Value to the Future." Today I would like to briefly share with you the core concept of this book, which is to get rid of learning anxiety through three steps: restructuring thinking, investing time, and taking efficient action.
The first step is to reconstruct your thinking and get out of the limitations of your own thinking.
The second step is to invest time and let every minute add value to the future.
The third step is to become an efficient actor. Only action can change yourself.
The first step is to reconstruct learning thinking and use "green light thinking" to learn.
Although some people have bought many books, attended many classes, and participated in many activities, their progress has been minimal. Through observation, I found that these people use "red light thinking" to learn. He only accepts views that he recognizes. When he encounters views that he does not recognize or is unfamiliar with, he immediately jumps up to oppose them and refuses to accept them. If this is the way of learning, no matter how much you learn, it will only consolidate your old knowledge, and new knowledge and perspectives will not enter your knowledge system.
"Red light thinking" occurs because everyone has more or less "habitual defenses". When we encounter new ideas that are inconsistent with our past perceptions, our habitual defenses are triggered. In order to reduce the adverse effects of habitual defensiveness, we need to develop green light thinking.
So what is "red light thinking" and what is "green light thinking"? Red light thinking means that when encountering opinions that are inconsistent with one's own, the first reaction is to find reasons to refute. Green light thinking means that when encountering new ideas or different opinions, the first reaction is: This idea must be useful, how should I apply it to myself?
But if you always use "red light thinking" to study, no matter how many lectures you listen to or how many books you read, your habitual defense will directly block these new ideas and new knowledge. If you don’t believe it, let alone practice it, that knowledge will have no effect on you. Therefore, after reading so many books and listening to so many lectures, it is still the same with very little change. Therefore, the first step to improve learning efficiency is to be aware of your habitual defenses. The scariest thing is that you have "habitual defense" without knowing it.
People with green light thinking, no matter what they learn, always tell themselves that this method can definitely be used on me.
If you want to grow, you must first open up your learning mentality from the bottom and establish a "green light thinking."
Upgrading from "red light thinking" to "green light thinking" is equivalent to the reconstruction of learning thinking.
After establishing "green light thinking", you will see new knowledge and information with an open mind, and use the new knowledge to guide your practice. This kind of learning is efficient.
The second step is to invest time and let every minute add value to the future.
Doing anything takes time. Time is a non-renewable resource. It is gone after 24 hours a day. We should look at time from an investment perspective and make every minute add value to the future.
The first step of the time investment method: record time.
The first step in perceiving time is to figure out what you are doing with your time. If you don't know how your time is being spent, you can't manage yourself.
I use Evernote to record my time every day. In Evernote, I have a folder named "To Do List", which records what I did every day and how long it took me to do it. This habit has been going on for five years. The recording method is based on the time statistics method of Ljubishev in "A Strange Life".
If you ask me now, what did I do two years ago today, I only need to spend 30 seconds searching in Evernote, find the record of that day, and I can immediately tell you what I did. , how long everything took.
In addition, I also use Evernote to check in three things every day, and complete the three most important things first every day. This is based on the concept in "Eat That Frog", which is to eat three "frogs" early in the morning and finish the most important things first.
The second step of the time investment method: set aside a whole block of time.
The secret to becoming an efficient person is to be good at concentrating, putting important things first, and doing one thing at a time.
The more you want to improve the utilization of your time, the more you need to have a longer "whole time" to concentrate the fragmented time you have at your disposal.
Concentrating a whole block of time will greatly improve the efficiency of time utilization. If you read a book and check WeChat at the same time, you will find that after half an hour, you have not read a few pages of the book. If you turn off your phone and concentrate on reading, you can finish a book in three or four hours. While writing, I browsed the web and looked at WeChat, but after an hour or two, I still hadn’t finished writing the article. If you stay offline while writing and concentrate on writing, you can finish a 2,000-word first draft in about an hour.
In addition, it is necessary to stay offline appropriately. Staying online at all times, with a large amount of information flooding into the brain, will keep our brains in a state of information processing without having time to think deeply. Taking time off from our phones and the internet regularly every day not only makes us more productive, it also gives us time to think deeply.
The third step of the time investment method: the 100-hour rule.
Speaking of the 100-hour rule, many people should think of the 10,000-hour rule. 10,000 hours of deliberate practice is difficult for ordinary people to achieve. If you reduce the time dimension and reduce 10,000 hours to 100 hours, it will be much easier.
When you are interested in something, you can spend 100 hours studying it first. You may be able to develop your interest and get started, rather than just verbally liking it.
Invest 100 hours in something and you can go from layman to beginner level. When you invest 100 hours, you have left most people behind, because in modern society, many people are simply unwilling to take action.
Those who control time control life. Time allocation determines our life. We should seriously think about how to allocate our time and resources, which will determine the direction of your life.
How you live your day is how you live your life. Investing 24 hours a day is investing in life.
The third step is to act efficiently and completely change your core strength.
The reason why many people are anxious is actually because they think too much and practice too little. I read a lot of books but never practice them. I listened to a lot of classes but never practiced them.
Only dreams are worth making you anxious, and only action can relieve anxiety. Any change ultimately requires action. And real learning happens after action. Efficient action is the core power to change yourself.
Many people know what they want to do and are willing to invest time, but they just keep putting it off. How to transform from a procrastinator to a productive doer?
Let me introduce to you the action formula POA. This formula changed me from a severe procrastinator to a master of action. POA is the abbreviation of Power of Action. This formula is actually very simple: Action = (P×A)/O= (Partner × Method)/Goal.
The more focused your goals are and the more partners identify with you, the more effective your actions will be and the stronger your action will be.
It is precisely because of the POA mobility formula that I started a daily writing journey. It has been more than 1,000 days so far. As a result, I published my first book "The Pattern of Time" and the second one I signed. The first draft of the book has also been completed.
The POA Mobility Formula can help you get out of the state of becoming more anxious as you learn more. Many people have too many goals and are too unfocused, so their ability to act is very weak. For example, if you are learning writing, English, mind mapping, hand-drawing, and PPT at the same time, these 5 items are equivalent to 5 goals, and all my spare time activities focus on the goal of honing writing, so my behavior The motivation is probably five times greater than yours. After several years, I published a book, but you worked equally hard but got nothing.
In this world, only a few people can have high aspirations and have no distractions. They do not try to achieve multiple goals, know how to say no to other opportunities in life, and ultimately achieve great achievements. If you want to know more about the POA action formula, you can read my new book.
"The Pattern of Time" comes with the POA Action Formula to help you become a highly effective activist. Maybe, there is only one formula between you and your dream.
"The Pattern of Time" also comes with daily lesson punch cards. Just like what is said in "Four Lessons from Liaofan": "Everything in the past is like dying yesterday. Everything in the future is like being born today." Live every day well, and you will live a life well. The book comes with a daily lesson form to encourage everyone to do their homework every day so that they will not waste their time on that day.
Today I briefly introduce to you the three core concepts in the book: restructure thinking, invest time, and act efficiently. If you want to learn more, you can buy my new book "The Pattern of Time."
When applied in the workplace, these three core concepts can help you break through the workplace and quickly get out of the confusion period in the workplace. When applied in life, they can help you get out of the current predicament and live an incredible life.
The book also contains 12 dream-chasing stories and 32 informative articles, using cases to trigger thinking, methods to guide actions, and actions to change your life, becoming a sober and efficient actor in the era of knowledge anxiety. .
The following is the mind map of "The Pattern of Time: Let Every Minute Add Value to the Future".
I hope that everyone who reads this book can take action immediately to realize your dreams and become what you like.
