According to the Code for Marriage Registration:

Article 56 When accepting an application for divorce registration, a marriage registrar shall follow the following procedures:

(1) Ask the parties about their willingness to divorce and the content of the divorce agreement respectively, and make a written record, which will be signed by the parties after reading it.

(2) Examining the documents and materials specified in Article 55 of this Law. If the party applying for divorce registration loses its marriage certificate, it shall declare in writing that it is lost, and the marriage registration authority may handle divorce registration according to the marriage certificate of the other party; If the marriage certificates of both parties who apply for divorce registration are lost, the parties shall declare in writing that the marriage certificates are lost, and provide a copy of the marriage registration file stamped with the special seal for file inquiry. The marriage registration authority may handle the divorce registration according to the above materials provided by the parties.

(3) If both parties divorce voluntarily and reach an agreement on matters such as child support, property and debt disposal, both parties shall fill in the Declaration on Application for Divorce Registration;

The signature of the column "Declarer" in the statement of applying for divorce registration must be filled in by the declarer in front of the witness and pressed by the handprint;

The registrar of marriages shall be a commissioner for oaths and sign his name in the column of commissioner for oaths.

(4) Both husband and wife sign a divorce agreement on the spot; The marriage registrar can affix "This document is consistent with the archived document, and the alteration is invalid. XXXX Marriage Registry XX, XX, XX "rectangular seal. One copy of the agreement is held by both husband and wife, and one copy is filed in the marriage registration office. If a party requests the marriage registration authority to copy the divorce agreement because of the loss of the divorce agreement, it shall consult the marriage registration file in accordance with the provisions of the Measures for the Administration of Marriage Registration Files.

After the divorce registration is completed, if the parties request to change the divorce agreement or change the contents of the divorce agreement, the marriage registration authority will not accept it.
