Do you want to try Tieguanyin or not?
Most people buy tea by observing its shape, smelling its fragrance and tasting its taste, but buying Tieguanyin is different. You should taste Tieguanyin with your mouth, not just your eyes. Tieguanyin is known as the "Pearl" of tea and the king of tea in China. Tieguanyin is "the sweetness in tea", with a quiet and slender aroma. After drinking it, it is sweet and refreshing, so now people love Tieguanyin far more than other teas. However, due to the different quality of Anxi Tieguanyin, the tea fragrance and price are very different.
Clarify the misunderstanding of Tieguanyin tea from the following aspects.
Myth 1: The more fragrant Tieguanyin is, the better.
When people buy Tieguanyin, they are often instilled with some wrong ideas by some tea merchants' salesmen. Among them, the salesman confuses consumers with fragrance, making consumers think that good Tieguanyin is the kind with high fragrance. Tieguanyin really pays attention to fragrance, but the more fragrant the better. Tieguanyin, which smells good, mostly grows in high-altitude mountainous areas, where there are many clouds, diffuse sunlight and strong ultraviolet rays. There are many aromatic substances accumulated in tea, and tea is thick, soft and tender. Tieguanyin in these places can generally produce high-quality tea fragrance, and the price is relatively expensive.
The best Tieguanyin is made from the original variety of "Red Bud Bend Tail Peach" in Anxi, with osmanthus fragrance and Lanzhi fragrance, and the tea price is more than 500g 1000 yuan. The second best Tieguanyin is a variation of the original "red-bud crooked-tailed peach" in Anxi area, with red heart, Hong Ying and other tea varieties as raw materials. Its fragrance types include milk fragrance, vanilla fragrance, Qing Xiang fragrance and ripe rhyme fragrance, and the price of tea is more than 500g 100 yuan. Generally, Tieguanyin tea is made by a specific method, but the raw materials are not necessarily pure. Fresh leaves may not come from Tieguanyin tea varieties in Anxi, such as white sample, white heart, thin leaves and bamboo leaves. Its fragrance types include floral fragrance, groundsel fragrance and so on. The price of tea is above 500g 30 yuan.
Myth 2: Good Tieguanyin tastes sour.
Many tea merchants in the market regard "sour taste" as the performance of high-quality Tieguanyin. In fact, the style of Tieguanyin tea is not much different from that of green tea and black tea, but in the process of fermentation, the quality of production is different and the taste has changed qualitatively. Green tea is fresh and fragrant, without fermentation process; Black tea is very fermented and tastes sweet. The unique production method of Tieguanyin tea is between red and green tea, which makes Tieguanyin have both the fragrance of green tea and the sweetness of black tea. Generally speaking, good Tieguanyin tea is fragrant, unique in flavor, long in aftertaste, and sweet in mouth with honey flavor. This unique charm is "Guanyin rhyme" and can't be described as "sour taste".
Myth 3: Adding ginseng to Tieguanyin tea
Drinking Tieguanyin mainly pays attention to freshness, fragrance and rhyme. If you add ginseng to Tieguanyin tea, it's like adding licorice and ginseng to oolong tea, and you get nothing. This way of drinking tea is a waste of Tieguanyin.
Myth 4: Brewing Tieguanyin with a teapot
Tieguanyin is a good tea, but it would be a pity if there is no corresponding pot to brew it. Tea and pot are well matched, and the brewed tea soup must be sweet and perfect. Tieguanyin tea belongs to semi-fermented tea, with heavy aroma and taste, so it should be equipped with a pot with high hardness. High hardness refers to high firing temperature, such as glass pots, white porcelain bowls and porcelain pots.
