World Bicycle Day.
"World Bicycle Day" is a holiday set on June 3 through a unanimous resolution at the plenary session of the 72nd United Nations General Assembly on April 12, 2018.
Establishment background:
The conference believes that sports is an important driving force for sustainable development and plays a role in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Efforts at all levels, including multi-stakeholder partnerships, need to be strengthened and further coordinated to maximize the role of cycling in promoting the achievement of internationally agreed goals, including the Sustainable Development Goals and the targets of the 2030 Agenda development goals and a culture of peace.
The General Assembly resolution stated that Member States are encouraged to pay special attention to bicycles in cross-cutting development strategies and to integrate bicycles into international, regional, national and subnational development policies and programs, as appropriate, to enhance road safety and promote their Integrate into the planning and design of sustainable mobility and transport infrastructure, in particular through the adoption of policies and measures that actively protect and promote pedestrian safety and bicycle travel.
