On June 5438+065438+1October 15, 2020, the fourth leaders' meeting of regional comprehensive economic partnership agreement (RCEP) was held by video, and Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, People's Republic of China (PRC) attended the meeting. At the meeting, witnessed by the leaders of 15 countries, 15 trade ministers signed the RCEP agreement.

According to the provisions of RCEP, the entry into force of the agreement requires the approval of at least 9 members of 15, including at least 6 ASEAN members and at least 3 China, Japan, Korea, Australia and New Zealand countries. Now that the agreement has been signed, RCEP members will go through the domestic legal examination and approval procedures and strive to promote the early entry into force of the agreement.

RCEP was initiated by ASEAN on 20 12. After eight years of negotiations, especially since this year, RCEP members have overcome the difficulties caused by the COVID-19 epidemic, completed the market access negotiations in an all-round way, completed the deliberation of more than 4,000 pages of the legal text of the Agreement/KLOC-0, and finally signed the Agreement as scheduled during today's leaders' meeting.
