Toriyama Akira's self-report
Before I became a cartoonist, I used to design advertising pictures in an advertising company in Nagoya. For three years, it's amazing. I have been late almost every day for three years. I expected that my boss would fire me, so I tendered my resignation. My favorite cartoonists are Mr. Osamu Tezuka and Disney from the United States. When I was a child, I especially loved painting the robots in Astro Boy until I painted my exercise book black. I think: I can become a cartoonist today thanks to imitation at that time. People who want to be cartoonists must first start with imitation.
For me, cartoonists are stars. Whenever I meet a famous cartoonist at a party, I will immediately ask him to sign for me as a souvenir. I kept more than 30 pages of this signature. Do you remember an empty bean Misuke who loves to collect signatures in Alaret? Actually, that's my shadow. Toriyama Akira is my real name. Only three people in Aichi have this strange name. After becoming famous, I kept getting harassing calls, which really gave me a headache. Then, I remembered a pen name called "The Second Stage of Paddy Field Operation". However, the editor said the name was too "boring" and had to give it up.
I hate being on TV. As soon as the camera like a cannon is aimed at me, I tremble all over and can't say anything. Besides, the thought of millions of people looking at themselves in front of the camera makes me pee my pants. Therefore, I always find various reasons to refuse to be on TV. Once, I was invited to participate in the program group "Car Room", and I saw the famous Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, who was only seen on TV before, coming towards me and chatting with me. I was so nervous that I flushed and trembled, and I didn't even know what I said. The interview ended before I woke up. Speaking of TV programs, I only like to watch Animal World.
