How to judge the collection value of a print?
Judging the value of a print should be analyzed from the following four points:

First, whether there are many kinds of fine prints. For woodcut prints, generally speaking, the more complex and exquisite the process, the higher the price. The price of color matching woodcuts is naturally higher than that of black and white woodcuts, and the price of large-size woodcuts is obviously higher than that of small-size woodcuts (but there are exceptions. The price of fine prints or black-and-white woodcuts with great historical significance and artistic value should be higher than the ordinary level).

Wood carving pays attention to a lot, such as knife flavor, wood flavor, water flavor, charm, artistic conception composition and so on. And it is not easy for ordinary people to understand whether they are good or not. There is a good frame of reference: see if this work has been selected into the national art exhibition or the national printmaking exhibition, won the national prize, and won unanimous praise from art critics. If all the answers are yes, plus I like it, then it must be a good work. Prints are different from traditional Chinese paintings. There is only one Chinese painting. It is not easy to collect the original masterpieces selected for the national art exhibition, but the prints can be copied, so there are more opportunities for collection.

Second, how famous famous paintings and calligraphy have always been, and printmaking is no exception. The names of printmakers can be roughly divided into three categories: ordinary members of the National Artists Association or members of the China Printmakers Association, with a large number; Famous printmakers, such as Li Hua, Wang Qi, Huang Xinbo, Liu Yi, Han Yan, Gu Yuan and others; Famous painters (or oil painters) and printmakers, such as Luo,,,, Shilu, etc. , are engaged in printmaking earlier and have many representative works. Obviously, among the three types of printmakers, the last one is more famous, prints are relatively rare, and the painting price is the highest. The oil paintings and traditional Chinese paintings of this kind of painters cost 65,438+10,000 yuan and millions of yuan at every turn, and the price of their prints will not be low.

Thirdly, according to the international practice, only the prints signed by the printmaker (including version number, edition number, woodcut type, work name and creation year, signed with pencil) are original works, otherwise they will all be regarded as prints. The signature is usually at the bottom of the printed matter. If it is 13/30, it means that there are 30 prints, which is 13. Obviously, the price of 300 commercial prints is much lower than that of only 10 works. When the author collects prints, prints exceeding 100 are basically not accepted. At present, some printmakers promise to print only one out-of-print painting in order to raise the painting price. Although this kind of painting is expensive, it may be collected because of its uniqueness.

4. What is the theme? At present, the prints sought after in the market are mainly the "Cultural Revolution" prints, the prints before the "Cultural Revolution" prints and the prints during the Anti-Japanese War. From the special auction of "1940-2003 China Prints Collection" in Guangzhou Guardian in 2003, the original prints of "Cultural Revolution" by Gu Yuan, Han Yan, Li Hua, Li Qun, Zhao Yannian and Shen Roujian, as well as the original prints before and during the Cultural Revolution, were sought after, to Gu Yuan's work "Burning the Old Place" created by 1947.
