Unlike Europe,
Japanese airports do not handle tax refunds. Generally speaking, tax refunds can only be enjoyed in large shopping malls and department stores. In some shopping malls, tax refunds are available only when a certain amount is reached. The merchant will affix a tax refund statement to the passport, which will be torn back by Japan
customs staff when leaving the country. When shopping in some large electrical appliance stores, as long as you show your passport, the merchant will sell the goods directly to you at a tax-free price, so there is no need to go through tax refund procedures.
