BEC intermediate writing format problem
Format problem:
Please use flat-headed writing in BEC writing.
The recipient's name and address are placed at the top left of the stationery
There are no punctuation marks after the address, salutation and closing ceremony
The date is at the top right
The paragraphs start from freeze frame, and the spacing between paragraphs is two lines (but due to the limitation of the answer sheet in the exam, Please consider it as appropriate)
The writer's name and title are below the signature
2. Precautions for salutation and closing ceremony:
The salutation should be written according to the following principles:
Dear Sir or Madam
Write to a company, and you are not sure about the specific recipient
Dear Sir
. But you don't know his specific name.
Dear Madam
For ladies, But you don't know his specific name
Dear Mr Smith
For men
Dear Ms Smith
For married or unmarried women
Dear Mrs Smith
For married women
Dear Miss. Lady
Dear John (here John is a common male name in English)
Addressing a friend or someone you are familiar with (usually a business partner for many years)
There is a corresponding relationship between the address and the closing ceremony. Please pay special attention to:
dear sir or madam
your faithfulness
dear Mr/ms/Mrs/ Miss Smith
Your Sincerely
Dear John
Best wishes
The following are all incorrect usages:
Dear Mr John
Dear Mr John Smith
3. Date:
In British English, Therefore, some special periods are easy to cause misunderstanding. For example: 12 6 23
in Britain means: June 21st
in the United States means: December 6th
Therefore, the date should be written as: 12 June 23
Note: Students can adopt the usage recommended by Enbo in the BEC exam. However, the usage of 12 6 23 can still be used, because BEC is an English version of the exam.
When using the usage recommended by Enbo, remember to start the month with a larger letter. There is no need to write th, rd, nd or st after the day.
