Dai Zi was born in Anhui in Qing Dynasty. In the 13th year of Tongzhi (1874), he served as the magistrate in Qianjiang County, Hubei Province, and later as the magistrate in Huanggang County, Hubei Province. During Dai's reign, he actively persuaded donations and built the head door, instrument door and inner and outer canopies, which became a building complex with unique cultural landscape in Huangzhou City. In the eighth year of Guangxu (1882), Dai compiled Huanggang County Records. In Huanggang County Records and Chibi Records, Dai solemnly recorded that Huangzhou Chibi was one of the relics of the Eighth World War on the Yangtze River, further affirming that Huangzhou Chibi was the site of Chibi War 1,800 years ago.
