The University of Building Construction did not run away. I have been watching the construction of the school since the day I entered the freshman year until now. There is also a school called University of Billions Chinese. There are so many Chinese on campus that you can hear people speaking Chinese wherever you go. To be precise, there are a lot of Asian students. A multicultural gathering place.
Environmentally speaking, it is surrounded by the sea on three sides and a virgin forest on the other side; there is also a rose garden and nitobe memorial garden (a very peaceful Japanese garden) on campus. Every spring, the cherry blossoms bloom on the road in front of Place Vanier dormitory; in autumn, the maple leaves on both sides of the main mall, the main road of the campus, first turn golden and then turn to fiery red, which is breathtakingly beautiful.
Tuition fees are much lower than those in American schools, although they are rising every year. Each credit hour for international students is more than $1,000.
I am a junior sociology+ir student, and I rarely see Chinese students in humanities and social science classes in departments 3 and above. The professors are all very charming, their lectures are interesting and not boring at all, they are fair and respectful to students, they are very enthusiastic during class and they answer students' questions very carefully. People like me who are often sick and absent from class will take the initiative to send me emails to check on my current situation and then invite me to the office hour to answer questions.
I personally like to chat with professors after class. Sometimes it’s about learning problems, and often it’s about my own ideas. For example, every time I come back from traveling, I will tell my sociology professor about my experiences and some of my own thoughts. Sometimes after reading a very good book, I will discuss it with them, and I will always feel that I have all kinds of fresh ideas afterwards. Sometimes they would also tell me about their own affairs, such as when they traveled to China, were surrounded by people on the streets of Jinan and wanted to take photos together, and they also ate all kinds of delicious food:)
Academic As for the atmosphere, the professors are usually very serious, and the students depend on it. The phenomenon of Chinese students getting together is very serious, and most Korean students are noisy in class. There are many Chinese students in business schools, engineering schools and computer science. There are much fewer social science subjects. My professor has asked me many times if it is because the humanities and social sciences require too much reading (thousands of pages a week) and too many papers to write, so that scares away those students XD p>
Oh yes, the UBC cafeteria has shrimp dumplings every Saturday. There were dumplings during the Spring Festival, and the school also invited a lion dance troupe to perform.
The school has sufficient resources. What I like most is the lifetime free wireless:) The interesting thing about UBC's wireless is that it assigns a dedicated line to each student, so you don't have to worry about privacy even if you are in a public place like the library (because you are still using it) own dedicated line), at the same time, if you download illegal resources, the school will find it immediately. What’s even more fun is that UBC has joined Eduroam, so if you go to other Eduroam member schools and log in with your UBC student account, you can also get free and fast wireless access. (I use eduroam when I visit many universities in the United States)
The swimming pool and gym are free and open to students. There are even more libraries, and I have found many documents from the 19th century. Needless to say, there is no need to mention the library’s online resources!
There are others such as consulting. The international student counselors are great, and they also provide various guidance on visas, student permits, job hunting, immigration, tax filing, etc.
The school’s career center is also developing well, with many internships and part-time projects available to students. The few that I participated in were quite satisfied, and the counselors were very conscientious.
After staying here for the past few years and doing various activities and jobs, I feel like, let me stay here for the rest of my life.
I can only think of so much now=w=
