Voyage chartering contracts include various clauses, which stipulate the rights and obligations of shipowners and charterers. When negotiating a charter party, both parties must negotiate each clause one by one. In order to simplify and speed up the process of contract negotiation, the parties negotiating a charter party usually adopt a standard format charter party, modify, delete or supplement some clauses in the standard format according to their own needs, and finally reach an agreement.

The standard format of voyage charter party is mostly formulated by international shipping organizations and can be used by both parties in the negotiation of charter party. There are many modes of voyage charter party, which vary according to the route of the ship and the types of goods carried.

For example, 1, GENCON-Jin Kang, is suitable for the transportation of groceries regardless of routes.

The format was formulated by the Baltic Sea and International Maritime Conference (BIMCO) and revised three times in 1922, 1976 and 1994. The format of 1976 is still widely used in the world. This format obviously protects the interests of the lessor in many ways. It can be applied to voyage chartering of various routes and goods, and is widely used in the world at present. This format is mostly adopted by air sublessors for import and export in China.

2. The North American Grain Charter Party (Norgrain for short) is applicable to grain transportation from North America to all parts of the world.

This format is compiled by the Association of Ship Brokers &; Formulation of preparation -AS-BA)

3. AUSTRALian Grain Charter Party (Austwheat for short) is applicable to grain transportation from Australia to all parts of the world, and the charter party code is "Austral".

4. The tanker voyage charter party (ASBA) formulated by ASBA is specially applicable to tanker voyage charter.

The rest are special purpose voyage chartering contracts, such as Polish coal chartering contract (POLCOALVOY), iron ore chartering contract (SCANORECON) and Baltic timber chartering contract (NABAL TWOOD).
