The Life of the Characters in Chen Lin's Works
Chen Lin was born in 1928, male, Han nationality, Jiangsu native, party member, professor. As early as 1955, he was appointed as the editor-in-chief of College English, the first set of general foreign language textbooks for English departments in colleges and universities in New China. He is the director of "One-stop Foreign Language Teaching" initiated by Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi.

Chen Lin once participated in the translation of the English version of Selected Works of Mao Zedong, and helped to prepare for the establishment of China Central Radio and TV University. 1978 presided over the first English course of TV broadcasting in New China and compiled teaching materials.

In the past 50 years, I have been teaching undergraduate and graduate students in the English department of the university, and I am also committed to adult education. 1983 was the president of Beijing foreign studies university, 1984 was the director of correspondence department, 1988 was the dean of Hainan branch of Beijing foreign studies university for 4 years, and 1992 was the first dean of the School of Adult Education of Beijing foreign studies university. He participated extensively in academic activities at home and abroad, and led a delegation of educators from China to visit the United States in 1990. At present, he is the leader of the expert group on the development of National English Curriculum Standards of the Ministry of Education, the executive director of the Party Committee of China Adult Education, the executive director of the Association of Old Professors, the chairman of the Foreign Language Professional Committee, the director of the Council of the Old Professors' Career Fund, and the president of China Research University. 1997 won the national contribution award for rejuvenating the country through science and education (one of the top ten professors), and 1999 won the national contribution award for the elderly.
