Tracing back to the source-China ceramic design artist Yi Wu
and Yi Wu have known each other for nearly 3 years. When I learned that Yi Wu was awarded the honorary title of China ceramic design artist in the Great Hall of the People on October 13th, as a lifelong professional like Yi Wu, I was sincerely happy and congratulated, which was a full affirmation and commendation for Yi Wu's persistent ceramic art creation for more than ten years.
When the "85 Art Tide" happened in China, I met Yi Wu, and both of us chose to engage in art as our belonging. We were both born in Porcelain City, Hunan Province, and were influenced and edified by art since childhood, and even received traditional professional training. I chose painting as my lifelong pursuit, and Yi Wu chose ceramic art, an art that perfectly combined soil and fire, as his field of struggle. I have always believed in the inner spirit of China's ink painting and ceramic art. For an artist in China, China's ceramic art tradition is the crystallization of human wisdom, the carrier of philosophy and the spiritual footprint, which is profound and has a long history.
Art is interlinked. During my study in Russian Repin Academy of Fine Arts, I studied the painting foundation of western art in detail, and felt that western art also pays great attention to massiness and simplicity, which coincides with China's traditional art, but we are in an era that is too anxious and utilitarian. Under such an environment, Master Yi Wu can not go with the flow, adhere to traditional training and innovation, form his own unique pen and ink language, and form himself. Yi Wu is the creator of ceramic art that I admire very much, and I have always admired his ceramic works. His works all show the close and harmonious relationship between man and nature, which is full of philosophy and poetry. Yi Wu's works all reflect a sense of simplicity of "elegance and dullness, which is related to the gods". The so-called "dullness" means being natural, not far-fetched, not carved, gentle and peaceful, from light and quiet, from static to mysterious.
When you watch Master Yi's works, you can feel his pen dripping freely on the porcelain tire, and his brushwork is lively and full of vitality. While creating the rhythm of the picture, it also highlights the emotional bearing capacity. Yi Wu's works have established an interesting and life-oriented creative consciousness to some extent, which has injected a brand-new aesthetic factor into modern ceramic design and art, emphasizing people's adaptability to nature, and going deep into life and appreciating life. All works are inherited.
China has always been positive and elegant in his artistic behavior for thousands of years, and he forgot about things and me with the spirit of nature, reaching the realm of harmony between heaven and earth, while Master Yi Wu is a successful master who expresses the concept of literati in modern ceramic design and art. He is not only a practitioner of ceramic design and art, but also good at learning and thinking, constantly improving and innovating the traditional ceramic making methods in China. In order to gradually form its own unique style, it is not superficial, regards inheritance and development as the foundation of ceramic design, art and creation, and has always maintained a calm heart and sincerely invested in the practice of modern ceramic design and artistic creation.
Yi Wu's ceramic art works are full of humanistic spirit and breath, calm, rich and heavy on tradition, elegant, graceful and innovative, bold and vigorous, with a muddy atmosphere and flying spirit.
Xunzi said, "Those who know are not as good as those who are good, and those who are good are not as good as those who are happy." Works of art reflect people's thoughts from "mature youth" and "life". In this way, Yi Wu continued the pursuit of his favorite ceramic art in "being good" and "being happy", constantly absorbed traditional nutrition in "being familiar" and explored the development of personality in "being alive". Yi Wu's creative spirit also enriched my understanding of art in many aspects. We hope that the brilliance of Master Yi's ceramic art attainments will illuminate more people's eyes for art.
