Disadvantages of integrated graphics card: the performance is relatively low, solidified on the motherboard or CPU, and cannot be replaced. If it must be replaced, only the motherboard can be replaced.
Independent graphics card means that the display chip, video memory and its related circuits are made on a circuit board and exist as independent cards, which need to occupy the expansion slot (ISA, PCI, AGP or PCI-E) of the motherboard.
Advantages of discrete graphics card: it has independent video memory, generally does not occupy system memory, is much more advanced than integrated graphics card in technology, can obtain better display effect and performance than integrated graphics card, and it is easy to upgrade the hardware of graphics card.
Disadvantages of discrete graphics cards: the system power consumption increases, the heat generation is also large, and it needs to spend extra money on graphics cards, which takes up more space (especially notebook computers).
Due to the different performance of graphics cards, the requirements for graphics cards are different, so now independent graphics cards are actually divided into two categories, one is entertainment graphics cards specially designed for games, and the other is professional graphics cards used for drawing and 3D rendering. At present, the strongest discrete graphics cards for games are GTX690 from NVIDIA and HD7990 from AMD, and Q6000 from NVIDIA is used for 3D drawing.
