Before encryption, you can look at the file properties, menu bar, file, properties and security tabs as shown in the figure below.

From the menu bar, select Advanced, Security, and Password Encryption.

Check "Password required to open the document" and click "OK", a confirmation dialog box will pop up, enter the password again, and then save.

Choose to create a self-signed digital ID for Acrobat.

Select "New PKCS# 12 Digital ID File"
