The author's meeting with readers of the new book "People are like a white jade play, like Xu Lan Yu Lan" published by Shanghai Jinxiu Articles Publishing House was held at the book fair convention center at noon today. Xu Yulan, a famous performing artist of Yue Opera, met in person and signed books for readers and fans. This book records the 80-year extraordinary career of Xu Yulan, a famous actor in Yue Opera, and fully shows the beauty of Xu School in Yue Opera. Xu Yulan has performed more than 300 plays and created countless characters with distinctive personalities, such as Jia Baoyu in A Dream of Red Mansions, Zhang Sheng in The West Chamber, Li Menglong in The Story of Spring Fragrance, Zhang zhen in Chasing Fish, Liu Qian in North King and Zhang Jihua in West Garden. Among them, The King of the North and A Dream of Red Mansions starring Xu Yulan are regarded as two great monuments of the Wapai School, and no one has surpassed them so far. Xu Yulan has made outstanding contributions to the innovation and development of Yue Opera, and was awarded the titles of "representative inheritor of Yue Opera as a national intangible cultural heritage project" and "artist with special contribution to Yue Opera in a century".
