Wu Changshuo tried to seal it all his life, and his style changed several times. He started with Zhejiang Seal in his early days and later specialized in China Seal. He used the seal cutting method of Zhejiang seal to pursue clumsy style, and then followed the example of Anhui seal and adopted the seal cutting methods of Deng, Wu Xizai, Zhao and others. In particular, Song Qian, one of the "Eight Schools of Xiling", was deeply impressed by Song Qian's vigorous and ups-and-downs style in his later period. He adopted the ancient French seal and Qin and Han seals, and integrated them into the stone inscriptions of past dynasties, as well as the plastic arts of inscriptions on bronze inscriptions, Wen Tao clay seals, Han seals and brick carvings of Han and Jin dynasties. He added a new style to the circle of Deng and Zhao. He has the deepest kung fu in his life. In his early years, he copied like Xiao, and later he was good at innovation.
Wu Changshuo's seal also reflects Shi Guwen's lofty and strange appearance. The lines printed on it are based on the rough brushwork of Zhejiang School, highlighting the brushwork, using a knife freely, punching at the same time, and forcing in with a blunt knife, which strengthens the sharp, blunt, Fiona Fang and heavy changes of strokes and shows a simple, heroic and vigorous style.
Wu Changshuo's technical performance is not only the performance of knife-cutting, but also a natural performance. A non-superb artist can create the quaint taste of incomplete and damaged seals by knocking, rubbing, chiseling, scraping and nailing, and show the rich taste of stone in the form of mottled seals. This is the so-called "carving, but also returning to the original."
Because of Wu Changshuo's profound knowledge, profound kung fu, great spirit and outstanding knowledge, he finally got rid of the old fence of searching for ink and formed his own high-pitched and vigorous style, which pushed the Indian studies in Ming and Qing Dynasties to a new peak in the past 600 years and became a great master.
