This week I started reading a new book called "Psychological Crime". This is a suspense novel that I borrowed from a colleague who ran with me. The book is signed by the author Remy.
The background of the novel is a campus, where college students are dying inexplicably one after another. The police cannot find the murderer, and people on campus are panicked.
I have already seen the fifth victim. I have probably read half the book. I have suspected several murderers, but they have all been ruled out one by one.
The first person who died went to the toilet after the lights were turned off in the dormitory. In a public bathroom like the one in the north, showers and toilets are arranged left and right. When he was found, he had been squatting in the toilet all night. The third deceased and the fourth deceased were a couple getting intimate on the sidelines of the football field. It was snowing that day, and they were still reluctant to leave after the lights were turned off in the dormitory at 10:30, and finally decided to watch an all-night movie. . But at this time, the girl saw a figure rising from behind the boy, holding a murder weapon and hitting the boy. The boy was knocked unconscious on the ground. The murderer grabbed the girl, knocked her out with drugs, and carried her away on his shoulders. Later, the murderer came to look for the boy and found that the boy was missing. To avoid exposing his identity, he decided to find the boy. The murderer followed his footsteps in the snow and saw a figure walking on the playground wall, holding on to the wall. He ran over quickly, but fell down on the way. As a result, they saw that the boy was hit by the ice on the wall, stabbing his back spine and freezing. When the girl was found, she was naked and tied to a flagpole in the playground. There were no signs of sexual assault.
The fifth deceased was Chen Xi from the Department of Economics. Her death was even more bizarre. On the campus where four people had died and people were panicking, the school's New Year's Day party and club activities were still not over. She participated in a drama in the drama club, playing the heroine, a princess. The script was about an ordinary person who fell in love with her, exchanged souls with the devil in order to get her, became a national hero, got engaged to the princess, and fulfilled his wish When he was young, the devil invaded his body and chopped off the princess's head with an ax in order to be reborn. In the script, the person who was beheaded was a plastic man. Who knew that when it was actually performed, the murderer pretended to be the male protagonist. He stunned Chen Xi, followed the script, beheaded the real person in front of 3,000 viewers, and then escaped.
The author is very good at exaggerating the atmosphere. I was reading alone in a quiet room, and felt waves of fear in my heart. If I were still on the university campus and reading this book, I estimate that I would be afraid for a while of walking on the playground at night, studying in the library, or even getting up to go to the bathroom.
While reading, I also suspected several people were murderers. One is Fang Mu, the first protagonist of the book. The first case, the second case, and even the deceased in the fifth case are all related to him. Sometimes he can even keenly sense the murderer's intentions, just like him. Just like a murderer. He himself also began to wonder whether he had schizophrenia, sleepwalking or something, and that he had killed those who died at night. Later, he even tied himself to the bed and slept to eliminate his suspicion.
The second murderer I suspect is Wu Han, Fang Mu’s roommate in the same dormitory. He is a student cadre on duty with the dormitory manager. He is strong and powerful, capable of strangling people to death, and can also move around at will. . But with the death of the fifth victim, the size of the murderer was revealed, and Wu Han's suspicion was eliminated.
Wang Jian, who is currently suspected, was originally a student in the base class. Later, his test scores were not good enough and he was eliminated from the junior base class. However, he is still living in the dormitory of the base class. The base class was a group of impersonal people who only cared about studying. Later, he moved out and lived in the bed of the first deceased. Later, more and more people died, and students in the city stopped living on campus. Wang Jian himself lived in the six-person dormitory. He has a strange personality, is withdrawn and unsociable, so he is among the people suspected, but so far there is no evidence to prove that he is the murderer.
Maybe as I continue reading, I will suspect more people are the murderers. I think this may be the charm of the success of suspense novels. It must solve the case without making it easy to know who the murderer is. It must also exaggerate the atmosphere and scare readers. In addition to fear, it also gives everyone the courage to read on and explore the truth.
