British architect and urban planner is famous for his unconventional design and the movement to get rid of international functionalism. Sterling was born in Glasgow and educated in Liverpool. Joined the army in World War II and participated in the Normandy landing campaign. 1945 ~ 1950 studied at the School of Architecture, Liverpool University. 1949 went to the United States as an exchange student and opened in London in the early 1950s. In 1956 ~ 1963, he cooperated with James Gao En to design the Ham residential building, which is considered as the representative work of the New Wild Faun School. From 65438 to 0959, Sterling designed the engineering building for Leicester University. In this building, he pays great attention to the organization of traffic routes. By the end of 1970s, Sterling's architectural style had developed into the so-called "high-tech". His South Gate residential project in London (1972 ~ 1977) includes brightly colored plastic walls. His design of the new national gallery in Stuttgart, Germany (1977 ~ 1984) is a combination of classicism and geometric abstraction postmodernism, and this design is considered by many as his greatest achievement. Among other famous buildings he designed, there are Fogg Museum (1979 ~ 1984) and Arthur? Sackler Museum (Arthur M. Sackler Museum, 1985) and (Arthur M.
