The origin of "hate not every generation, anger not moving grandchildren"
"hate is not separated from generations" means that hatred should not be passed on to future generations; "Don't move your grandson if you are angry" means don't take your anger out on your enemy's grandson. Both sentences have the meaning of "friends should be reconciled but not married". This is a reflection of China's traditional concept of comity, benevolence and righteousness, which comes from the Biography of Fan Fuzi, the Later Book of History.
