The simplest and easiest way for us ordinary people to identify diamonds is to observe them with the naked eye. The naked eye observation is mainly to observe the "fire color" of diamonds, that is, diamonds can reflect colorful light, which is basically blue light. The more perfect the diamond is cut, the more dazzling the "fire color". The brilliance of imitations with high refractive index will appear stiff and dim.
Touch with both hands
When buying a loose diamond, you can touch the surface of the diamond by hand to see if it is sticky. This is mainly because real diamonds have affinity for greasy, and they will feel sticky when touched by hand.
3 induced temperature
Diamonds have the characteristics of "high thermal conductivity", and we can observe whether diamonds have temperature. If you put the diamond near your arm or face, can you feel a little warmth? If it's fake, it won't have the heat transfer effect of real diamonds, but it will be cool.
4 Exhale to distinguish authenticity
When buying diamonds, you can also breathe on the surface of diamonds and imitation diamonds at the same time. The water mist condensed on the surface of the real diamond will evaporate faster than that on the imitation diamond. Of course, this identification method needs to bring a diamond imitation with you in advance as a comparison of the experiment.
5 Check mosaic and work
When buying diamond ornaments, it is not only necessary to distinguish the authenticity of diamonds, but also the quality of inlay technology affects the price of diamond ornaments to a great extent, which is related to daily wear in the future.
If you want to test the mosaic of diamond jewelry, you need a secret weapon, that is "stockings worn by beautiful women". Because exquisite inlays should fit perfectly, when buying diamond rings or other diamond ornaments from pointed inlays, it is best to use the diamond face of pointed inlays to pass through stockings. If it is very smooth and does not scratch at all, it proves to be an excellent mosaic process and can be purchased with confidence. On the contrary, it means that the mosaic is not tight enough, so it is better to choose another one.
6 water droplet identification
Clean and wipe the diamond to ensure that its surface is free of grease. Then, drop water on the diamond. If water drops can stay on a diamond for a long time, it is a real diamond. If the water drops disperse immediately, it may be a diamond imitation.
7-line recognition
The internal refractive index of the cut standard diamond is very high, and almost no light can pass through the diamond pavilion to reach the table, so the bottom of the diamond is vertically placed on a piece of white paper with the black line of a pencil drawn on it. If you look vertically through the table, you can't see the black line. For diamond imitations with low refractive index, such as zircon and cubic zirconia, curved black lines can be seen.
8 Observe the reflected light
With a magnifying glass (available in all shops), it can be observed that the waist of the diamond presents a very fine frosted shape, and the reflected light shines brightly. This characteristic of diamonds is unique.
