The Law of the People's Republic of China (PRC) Special Administrative Region on Safeguarding National Security is an important legislative item formulated by the Decision of the National People's Congress on Establishing and Perfecting the Legal System and Law Enforcement Mechanism for Safeguarding National Security in the Special Administrative Region, which was adopted at the 20th meeting of the 13th NPC Standing Committee. The Decision of the National People's Congress on Establishing and Perfecting the Legal System and Law Enforcement Mechanism for Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region requires that the opinions of the Basic Law Committee of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region be sought according to law, and the national law "People's Republic of China (PRC) Law on Safeguarding National Security of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" should be added to Annex III of the Basic Law of People's Republic of China (PRC).
