Since September 1 2004, the newly formulated Prescription Management Measures (Trial) promulgated by the Ministry of Health and state administration of traditional chinese medicine has been officially implemented, and hospital doctors will be more "disciplined" when using prescriptions. The new "Prescription Management Measures (Trial)" stipulates that prescriptions are uniformly printed by medical institutions according to the prescribed format, and must include the name of the institution, prescription number, patient information, drug amount and so on 10. It is forbidden to write "gobbledygook" when prescribing. Doctors must write in standardized Chinese or English names, and the name, dosage, specification, usage and dosage of drugs should be accurate and standardized. The dosage and quantity of drugs shall be written in Arabic numerals, and the prescriptions of western medicine, Chinese patent medicine and Chinese herbal pieces shall be issued separately, of which each prescription of western medicine and Chinese patent medicine shall not exceed five kinds of drugs.
The dosage of prescription drugs should not exceed 7 days. For the dosage of prescription drugs, doctors are generally not allowed to prescribe for more than 7 days; Emergency prescription shall generally not exceed 3 days; Under special circumstances, the prescribed dose may be appropriately extended, but the doctor must indicate the reasons. Moreover, the prescription is only valid on the day of issuance. Prescriptions are generally valid on the same day, and special circumstances require an extension of time, which must be marked and signed by a doctor. It can be an electronic version, but it will not be effective until it is printed and signed by the doctor.
In order to reduce the cost of medical treatment for patients, it is stipulated that except toxic drugs, psychotropic drugs, narcotic drugs and drug rehabilitation drugs for medical use, hospitals shall not restrict patients from buying drugs from other hospitals or pharmacies with prescriptions. To this end, the method also stipulates that when doctors write the names of drugs, they must be based on the names of drugs recognized and publicized by the state. The abbreviation or abbreviation of drugs must be commonly used in China. Hospitals or doctors are not allowed to compile abbreviations or codes by themselves.
