First, from my own recruitment experience.
In my first job after graduation, I did recruitment for a period of time. I was in a company doing brand strategy consulting. Employees are highly mobile, and most of them are high-end talents, so it is very difficult to recruit. During this time, I will browse the resumes delivered through Zhilian and Carefree Future every day, and I will continue to look for suitable resumes in Zhilian and Carefree Future Resume Database every day. Almost every day, we browse resumes searched by various related keywords. You may not believe it. We almost browse the resumes updated 1 year ago. We look at more than hundreds of resumes every day, and read thousands in total. From these thousands of resumes and interviews with nearly 100 people, we can sum up a rule:
All professionals can be divided into three categories: pure experience export type; Main thinking output type; Thinking+experience output type.
1. Pure empirical output type
Such people will soon encounter bottlenecks in their career development. Everything they do is based on their previous experience and lacks innovation. Therefore, you will find that after 7-8 years, these workers are still grass-roots employees with a monthly salary of several thousand yuan, and of course they have also achieved middle and high levels, but they have spent several years or even more than others.
People with pure experience can also solve many things in the workplace, just like when we were in high school mathematics. When you do almost all the math problems, every math problem you see can be answered according to past experience, and eventually you can get high marks, but you have to work hard for a long time to reach this level.
2. Main types of thinking output
Let's take high school mathematics as an example. People who are purely experienced have done almost everything, so they can get high marks in the exam. However, some smart students don't do many questions, even they will encounter unfamiliar questions in every exam, but with certain thinking and methods, they can solve them soon. Such students can get high marks in a short time.
Working is like learning math. The way of thinking will make you struggle less for many years, and you can become better than others at the same time.
In fact, the second person is related to the third person, but the third person will inevitably go through the second stage. The second type of people are mostly newcomers to the workplace, that is, people who stand out after working for a few years. These people have not accumulated enough experience because of their short working years, but their way of thinking is enough to support them to solve many things.
3. Thinking+experience output type
This kind of people are generally senior people in a certain field, and they basically grow up from the second kind of people. They have great thinking and rich work experience, and can constantly internalize their work experience into methodology, sum up many laws and methods, and then use them to guide practice.
We will see many such people publish their books according to their own thinking and experience, and then sell them well. For example, Sean's "Operating from scratch" and Jin Pu's "The Way of Internet Operation". Only by constantly improving thinking, quickly internalizing work experience into methodology, and then guiding practice, can we become such people.
In fact, the above three types of people are fundamentally because of their different ways of thinking, so let's talk about the way of thinking.
Second, from the limited work experience.
When I just graduated, I chose an unknown consulting company from many offer and participated in the formation of a branch of this company. Strictly speaking, I am the second employee of the branch. Unfortunately, the first employee was not the general manager of the branch, and he started working in a residential building. The branch has not been registered yet. Fortunately, this branch has recruited a promising young leader, the general manager of the branch. Because the branch is starting from scratch, almost everything will be involved. Although this work experience is only one year, it has gained a lot.
Later, I made a cross-bank transformation and entered the current company. I worked with many excellent leaders and learned a lot from them. In these two work experiences, I realized three things:
1. It is very important to follow the right person.
There is a saying that "who you are with determines what kind of person you will become", which makes sense.
The general manager of the branch of the first company was not yet 30 years old, but I envy his way of thinking and demeanor, so I want to be such a person. I keep learning his way of thinking, communicate with him regularly and learn a lot from him.
What impressed me most was that he taught me the way he thought about any problem. This way of thinking vividly uses physics, chemistry and biology as metaphors, that is, we can think about everything from these three angles:
Physical: the appearance and appearance of this substance;
Chemistry: the inner and essence of this substance is sublimation on the basis of external and appearance;
Biology: What guiding significance does this matter have for my present job? Is to reorganize on the basis of sublimation.
Take a cow for example. When we see a cow, the first thing we see is its physical characteristics, that is, it is composed of blood, meat and various organs, which is what our eyes actually see. Let's continue to think further. From a chemical point of view, what do we think of when we see cows? Cattle's character and spirit, such as diligence, practicality and dedication; So how should we think from the perspective of biology? What is the significance of cow's character and spirit to our life and work? For example, you should be diligent and practical in your work and have dedication in your life.
Because Chaoge is also engaged in operation, let's take the user portrait operated by users as an example.
For example, if we make a user portrait of a product, we can also consider it from three angles: physics, chemistry and biology.
First of all, physics is the dominant feature of our target users, such as age, gender and geographical distribution.
Secondly, it is chemical, that is, the hidden characteristics of our target users, their potential needs and behavioral preferences.
The third is the biological perspective, that is, the operation strategy based on the explicit and implicit characteristics of the target users.
So, through this way of thinking, we find that it is actually very simple to make a user portrait, and we only need to cut in from three aspects, namely, explicit characteristics, implicit characteristics and the formulation of operational strategies based on explicit and implicit characteristics. Is it much clearer to make a portrait of a user?
In addition, I also learned another thinking methodology when doing analysis from this leader. For example, when analyzing a bunch of enterprises, I can quickly sort out these enterprises from four angles: category, type, content and structure (the specific method is not detailed here because of the length of the article, which is actually the same as the golden pyramid principle. You can also establish your own set of thinking system in your daily work.
Let's talk about my current company again: actually, I feel very lucky. I can learn a lot in both companies. I have been in this company for more than two years and have worked with many excellent leaders. Each of them has a different way of thinking and has his own characteristics. So I will often think consciously and learn the way they think. For example, why does he think of a thing like this? Why didn't I think of it? How do they usually think of a thing? What are their ways of thinking that I can learn from? What can I optimize and improve on their basis? In this way, we can absorb the strengths of each family, and then internalize them and derive our own thinking system.
Of course, what impressed me was a leader (anonymous here for privacy reasons), and her way of thinking inspired me a lot. It is to be able to quickly define the goal of doing anything, and then disassemble it according to the goal; Then quickly formulate and implement the goal of disassembly, which can be directly defined as people, money and things. In other words, when you receive any job, you can quickly define the goal and then disassemble it based on this goal. In other words, what needs to be done to achieve this goal? How can these companies implement it quickly, such as who do you need? What do you support? What kind of division of labor and cooperation? Then you will consider what kind of resources you need to call. Of course, when you do this, you will encounter problems and difficulties, and you will think about whether this problem can be solved and what you need to do to solve it. What kind of resources are needed to support it?
Continue to take operation as an example. For example, when we do user operation, we must first make clear what the goal of user operation is. Generally speaking, its goal is activity, of course, some products will also involve updating and conversion.
Here we take online education operation as an example, and only consider the activity objectives first. First of all, we have made it clear that the goal of user operation is to improve activity, so what are the main factors that affect user activity? Such as content, activities and products. In terms of content, what we need to do is to improve the quality of content and do a good job in packaging, integration, recommendation and presentation of content; In terms of activity, we should focus on improving user activity. Our goal is to let more users participate in this activity, so we must first understand the preferences and characteristics of users. Secondly, consider the form of the activity, the threshold of participation, the reward of the activity and the control of the activity process; In this product, we need to consider which functions can enhance the user's activity. We can optimize and consider product functions according to people's arrogance, voyeurism, lust, inertia, greed and vanity.

2. Learning and thinking are very important
I believe many people have seen a dialogue:
Q: "I have read many books, but most of them have been forgotten by me. What is the meaning of reading? "
A: "I ate a lot when I was a child, but now I can't remember what I ate." But what is certain is that some of them have grown into my bones and flesh. The same is true of the mentality change of reading! "
In fact, people who consult should have a deep understanding. Of course, with the development of the Internet, information changes too fast, and Internet practitioners must keep learning and learn quickly.
After online education products (vocational education direction) have been in operation for a period of time, you will find that users are divided into two types: those with strong learning ability and those with weak learning ability. For the same course (there is a premise that it is a high-quality course), some people will find this course very good and enlightening, and even can quickly apply the inspiration of this course to their own work and achieve good results; Others think that this course is ungrounded and worthless. These users actually have two characteristics: first, they are unwilling to think and just passively accept; Second, they won't draw inferences from others. They think that if I take this course, I will be able to copy the methods mentioned in this course and get results in my work. Obviously, this is impossible, because every enterprise is different. Even in the same industry, they will have differences in development stage, scale, speed, resources and customer types, so it is difficult to copy a course.
So how to study? As I mentioned earlier, we can think from the perspectives of physics, chemistry and biology, and this idea is also applicable to learning.
For example, when we get a book, we can quickly understand the knowledge framework, chapter setting and key points of the book from a physical point of view; Secondly, from the perspective of chemistry, we can see how the author thinks deeply under these frameworks, chapter settings and key points. Thirdly, from the perspective of biology, we can consider whether the author's thoughts and viewpoints can be used to explain some phenomena in life and work, and whether these viewpoints can be used by me to guide our practice.
In order to make it easier for everyone to understand, I will take clay shirky's book Cognitive Surplus as an example.
First of all, from a physical point of view, the author of this book is divided into two parts and 33 chapters, and then the key point of the book is "cognitive surplus".
Secondly, from the perspective of chemistry, it is the author's deep thinking about "cognitive surplus".
Third, from a biological point of view, those phenomena in our lives can be explained by cognitive surplus. How can we make use of "cognitive surplus"? There are some phenomena that can be explained, such as why Wikipedia contains far more entries than the Britannica, which has been successfully revised for hundreds of years.
A set of data named "One Day on the Internet" tells us that all the content generated by the Internet can be carved into 654.38+68 million DVD； in one day; 2 million community posts (equivalent to Time magazine in 770). According to IBM's research, 90% of all data obtained by the whole human civilization were generated in the past year.
The above two phenomena can be explained by "cognitive surplus", which is playing a role. How do we use cognitive surplus? The popular concept of sharing economy is the utilization of cognitive surplus, such as Douban, Zhihu, Weibo, Xing Hang, Fenjia and the popular live broadcast platform.
3. A good way of thinking is very important
The importance of a good way of thinking is manifested in three aspects. He can make you do anything. First of all, you can have a clear goal. Secondly, it can make your mind clear; The third is that it can make you think more comprehensively.
The goal is clearer.
At work, we often encounter jobs that we have never done or are unfamiliar with. We have no experience to learn from, what should we do? As I said before, what we need to do is to quickly find out the Beijing that did this, then determine the purpose of doing this, determine the goal of our work around the purpose, and then dismantle it based on this goal. In fact, our thinking on this issue can be very clear, even if we don't understand macroeconomics at all.
First of all, we can think of the factors that affect the macro-economy, such as the troika that affects the economy: investment, domestic demand and export.
Then we can analyze investment, consumption and export. If investment is too cold, domestic demand is insufficient and exports are weakened, then the macroeconomic situation must not be optimistic. However, in the case of insufficient domestic demand, Japanese tourists rushed to China to buy toilet seats and high-priced rice cookers.
In this regard, I can go on to analyze: China has overcapacity in low-quality consumer goods and insufficient capacity in high-quality products. No, China has adhered to the economic stimulus policy for more than ten years, and changes have taken place, from demand-side stimulus to supply-side reform, from constantly eating Viagra to eating health care products, so you can understand why supply-side reform is needed!
