I. Nature of the Examination
The National Unified Examination for General Colleges and Universities Admissions is a selective examination taken by qualified high school graduates and candidates with equivalent academic abilities. Colleges and universities will select the best candidates based on their scores, determined enrollment plans, and comprehensive evaluation of moral, intellectual, and physical qualities. Therefore, the college entrance examination should have high reliability, validity, appropriate difficulty and necessary discrimination.
The English subject examination is designed in accordance with the requirements of standardized testing.
II. Exam content and requirements
Based on the cultural quality requirements of ordinary colleges and universities for freshmen, refer to the "English Teaching Syllabus for Full-time Senior High Schools (Trial Revised Edition)" issued by the Ministry of Education in 2009, and take into account the actual teaching practices of middle schools. Formulate the content of the examination for this subject.
1. Language knowledge
Candidates are required to properly apply basic grammar knowledge (see appendix) and master about 2,000 vocabulary words and related phrases (see the "English Teaching Syllabus for Full-time Senior High Schools" (Trial revised version)")

1. Listening
Test takers are required to understand short monologues and conversations about familiar topics in daily life. Candidates should be able to:
(1) Understand the main idea;
(2) Obtain factual and specific information;
(3) Make decisions about what they heard Simple inference;
(4) Understand the speaker’s intention, point of view or attitude.
2. Reading
Candidates are required to read announcements, instructions, advertisements, and short articles on general topics in books, newspapers, and magazines. Candidates should be able to:
(1) Understand the main idea and essence;
(2) Understand the specific information in the text;
(3) Infer the meaning of new words based on the context ;
(4) Make simple judgments and inferences;
(5) Understand the basic structure of the article;
(6) Understand the author’s intention, point of view and manner.
3. Writing
Candidates are required to express themselves in writing according to the instructions. Candidates should be able to:
(1) Use grammar and vocabulary accurately;
(2) Use certain sentence patterns and vocabulary to express their meaning clearly and coherently.
III. Exam format and paper structure
1. Answering method: closed book, written test.
2. Exam time: 120 minutes. The full score of the test paper is 150 points.
3. Question types: Test papers generally include multiple-choice questions, cloze questions, listening fill-in-the-blank questions, essay correction, and written expression.
4. Difficulty ratio of test questions: The test paper includes easy questions, medium questions and difficult questions, with medium questions being the main ones.
