ICBC's online banking uses ActiveX controls to enter passwords. ActiveX controls use the underlying functions of Windows to intercept keyboard events before hackers, and hackers can't get users' passwords, thus greatly improving the security of online banking.

ICBC took the lead in adopting two unique security technologies in China: secure client and client certificate, which enabled personal online banking to achieve enterprise-level security. A personal certificate authentication system based on public key (PKI) technology is established by using personal certificates of physical media. Through personal certificate authentication and digital signature technology, customers can authenticate the identity of online transactions, sign various business service agreements, and ensure the uniqueness, integrity and non-repudiation of transactions and agreements.
