R&D history

M9 multipurpose bayonet was designed by Phrobis Company in 1980s. At that time, the US Army was in urgent need of a bayonet matched with assault rifles such as M 16, so as to enhance the individual combat capability. Later, the US military extensively collected new bayonets through bidding, and finally Robis of the Philippines won the bid. According to the requirements of the military, 1984, Robis officially launched the M9 multi-purpose bayonet. At present, M9 multipurpose bayonet manufacturers include Barker Tool Company and Ontario Tool Company. In addition, there is Robis company, which produces more than 405,000 bayonets in total.

Weapon structure

The handle of M9 multipurpose bayonet is cylindrical and made of ST80 1 nylon, which is firm and wear-resistant. There are net patterns on the surface, which have good grip and insulation. There are two grooves on both sides of the bayonet guard plate, which play the role of bottle opener; The tail of the handle is provided with a small groove, which is used for positioning in combination with the gun. The scabbard is equipped with a grindstone, and the end of it has a screwdriver blade opening, which can be used as a screwdriver.

Computational performance

The blade of M9 multi-purpose bayonet is made of stainless steel and connected with the handle mandrel by thread. The surface of the blade is light gray, and the cutting edge is extremely sharp after local heat treatment. The flat hole on the back of the knife is sleeved on the bamboo shoots on the scabbard and closely matched with it. It can cut iron hoop or ribbed steel wire mesh with a diameter of 6.35 mm, and the sawtooth and iron teeth on the back of the knife are hard and sharp, which can cut through the aircraft shell, pine wood with a thickness of 50.8 mm and hard wood sticks with a diameter of 25.4 mm.
