Any complex system is built on its inherent simplicity. That is to say, from the abstract point of view of all systems, except for elements (variables), there are correlations between elements, and there are four correlations between elements: causal chain, reinforcing loop, regulating loop, and hysteresis effect. It is these five simple "structural modules" like Lego bricks that build all the complex systems you see. In the article above, I will introduce these 5 structures in detail, and then build a complex system of my own.

Variables: Variables are like water in a bathtub, divided into stock and flow. Stock is the value of a variable at a point in time, and flow is the change in value over a time period. The flow changes the stock, and the stock changes the world (oneself). If you want to find your own business model and improve your income and capabilities, you must find your own core stock;

Cause and effect chain: Bodhisattvas fear causes, and all living beings fear consequences. A causal chain is an enhanced or weakened connection between variables. Many managers (I am also a manager) like to say that I only look at results, but only looking at results is actually the lowest management method. A truly insightful person will use the "causal chain" to follow the clues, find the "cause variables" connected to them, and solve the problem. Therefore, if you want to improve your abilities, the key is to find your own key causal chain. Once you find the key causal chain, the problem will become very simple. Einstein once said: Even an idiot can make simplicity more complicated, only intelligence can make things simpler. Any complex system is built on inherent simplicity. And key causal chains are at the heart of this inherent simplicity.

Reinforcement loop: Variables are nodes; causal chains are line segments; connect these line segments, the cause strengthens the effect, and the effect in turn strengthens the cause, forming a loop, and the cycle of reinforcement is reinforcement. loop. For thousands of years, people have given countless names to the ups and downs caused by the "reinforcement loop". Religious scientists call it the "Matthew effect", economists call it the "winner takes all", and financial scientists call it the "compound interest effect." ". In fact, behind these fireworks-like phenomena are the same basic module: the enhancement loop. Therefore, we need to find an enhancement loop that can continue to increase our income, and then continue to circulate and enhance this loop. If things go on like this, one day there will be a "winner takes all" or "compound interest effect" result.

Regulating loop: The regulating loop is the twin brother of the reinforcing loop. Where there is a reinforcing loop, there will be a regulating loop. A regulatory loop is a causal loop in which the cause strengthens the effect, and the effect in turn weakens the cause, thereby resisting system change. Therefore, in fact, the enhancement loop pursues extremes, while the adjustment loop pursues balance. Regulatory loops are bound to lurk in everyone's own development path, and they are both enemies and friends. Imitate the famous saying of Teacher Wanweigang: Your plan is to take off, while the world’s plan is to return. In this world, wherever there is a reinforcing circuit, there must be a regulating circuit within seven steps. If you haven't encountered it, it's just that your enhancement is not fast enough.

Hysteresis effect: Although causal chains, regulatory loops, and reinforcing loops are all powerful, if you add the dimension of time, you will find that the causal chain is not connected instantly, and the loop is not closed instantly. They are all on the timeline, reflected in a time span, and this span is the lag effect. An obvious example of the hysteresis effect is that when you turn on the faucet while taking a bath, it will become too hot for a while and too cold for a while. The reason why we need to add the hysteresis effect is to remind ourselves that we must add the dimension of time when analyzing the problem.

From now on, "time" is no longer a factor that casually affects your decision-making, but a powerful tool to help you gain insight into things.

I have tried to build my own system, and the biggest feeling is that this system needs to be continuously improved and updated. This system cannot be built in a short time, but needs to be continuously improved and modified based on life and work experience and the continuous increase of one's own knowledge.
