Jiao's brother and sister are here again.
September 10 of Gregorian calendar is Teachers' Day in China.
Teacher's Day was established in the history of our country. 193 1 year, educators Taihe Cheng Qibao gathered in Nanjing Central University and issued a declaration, demanding "improving teachers' treatment, ensuring teachers' work and enhancing teachers' self-cultivation", and unanimously agreed that June 6 was Teachers' Day, also known as Double Six Days. Soon, the Kuomintang government first agreed to June 6th as Teacher's Day, and then changed it to August 27th (Confucius' birthday).
After the founding of New China, the Central People's Government resumed June 6th as Teachers' Day, and the Ministry of Education informed local educators to organize their own celebrations according to the actual situation. 195 1 year, the national education trade union was established, and educators were recognized as part of the working class. 1951April19, Minister of Education and Chairman of the National Committee of China Education Trade Union made a written statement, announcing that "May 1 International Labor Day" is also Teacher's Day. However, due to the lack of teachers on this day, the implementation result is not ideal. Especially after 1957, under the influence of "Left" thought, teachers were ignored, and Teacher's Day actually did not exist.
In recent years, our government has taken many measures to mobilize the whole society to respect teachers, improve their status and improve their working and living conditions. In order to further improve teachers' political and social status, form a social fashion of respecting teachers, knowledge and talents, and promote the development of education, according to the repeated suggestions of NPC deputies, CPPCC members and people from all walks of life, especially teachers from all over the country, and the experience of carrying out activities of respecting teachers and attaching importance to education in various places, the State Council held a seminar on June 5438+0985 65438+ 10/. At the Sixth National People's Congress held on June 65438+1October 2 1 in the same year, a proposal on the establishment of Teacher's Day was passed, and it was decided that September of 10 would be Teacher's Day. 1985 September 10, teachers all over the country celebrated their first teachers' day.
September 10 is designated as Teacher's Day because the activity of respecting teachers and attaching importance to teaching can create a good learning atmosphere for teachers and students. At the same time, there are few national festivals in September, which is convenient for all parties to concentrate on organizing activities, highlighting publicity and reporting, and promoting the formation of a good social trend of respecting teachers, attaching importance to education, respecting knowledge and respecting talents throughout the country.
The establishment of Teacher's Day indicates that teachers are respected by the whole society in our country. This is because the work of teachers largely determines the future of our country. Teachers' work is closely related to every family, every child, teenager and youth. Teachers play a great role in the development and progress of human society. Teachers are engineers who cast human civilization, disseminators and builders of human civilization. The continuity of the development of human civilization depends on the work of generations of teachers. A society, a country and a nation will suffer losses in the process of civilization if teachers do not work hard and effectively. Therefore, a history of civilization is inconceivable without teachers.
Since then, every year on Teachers' Day, teachers all over the country have celebrated their festivals in different ways. Through the selection and award, experience was introduced, which helped solve practical difficulties such as salary, housing and medical care, improved teaching conditions and greatly enhanced teachers' enthusiasm for education.
The origin of teacher's day

I don't know why, when I got up that morning, it suddenly occurred to me that teachers should also have their own festivals.
Speaking of the "Teacher's Day" initiative, Professor Wang Zikun, who is simple and frank, can't tell any earth-shattering stories, as if a very ordinary thing happened naturally. However, the academician's profound teacher complex, who was born in a poor peasant family in the old revolutionary area of Jinggangshan, made everything clear: Professor Wang Zikun was cared for by teachers from primary school to university, and it was his wish to be a teacher from an early age. When he graduated from Wuhan University at the age of 23, he chose Nankai University as his dream teacher without hesitation. Teaching has become his lifelong career. He once had the opportunity to be elected as the deputy mayor of Tianjin, but he left without saying goodbye. 1May, 984, came to Beijing Normal University, the highest normal college in China, as the principal.
It was1984 65438+February 9, when President Wang Zikun got up early in the morning, he "suddenly" had the idea of setting up Teacher's Day. He habitually came to the office at 5 o'clock to prepare for work, trying to tell anyone about this idea, but no one has gone to work yet. At 8 o'clock in the morning, when he came to the office for the second time, he directly called a reporter he knew from Beijing Evening News and told him his idea, which was recognized by the reporter. The next day, Beijing Evening News published a short message of more than 200 words, entitled "President Wang Zikun suggested to carry out activities of respecting teachers and attaching importance to education", which wrote: "... we suggest to carry out activities of respecting teachers and attaching importance to education nationwide, and the beginning of this month must be the National Teacher's Day. President Wang believes that the month of respecting teachers and emphasizing education can be set in February or March or August or September before the winter and summer vacations every year. As a result, this short newsletter became the earliest written record of the establishment of Teacher's Day.
About a week later, on February 5, 65438/kloc-0, President Wang Zikun held a forum to further promote this initiative, and invited famous professors from Beijing Normal University, such as Zhong Jingwen, Qi Gong, Tao Dayong, Zhu Xianzhi, Huang Ji and Zhao Qinghuan, to participate in the discussion. This initiative has been unanimously agreed by professors and jointly proposed to the society. The next day, Beijing Daily published a short message about this initiative, but this short message added a striking title-"Wang Zikun, president of Beijing Normal University, proposed that September be the month of respecting teachers and emphasizing education, and suggested that a certain day in September be the National Teacher's Day". This is the second time that the initiative to set up Teachers' Day has appeared in the media.
After two public initiatives, Professor Wang Zikun thinks that he has done his best as a teacher and principal.
The Evolution of Teacher's Day in China
Teachers' Day is the only three professional festivals in China, including Nurses' Day and Journalists' Day. Since 193 1 year, there have been four teachers' days with different dates and natures in different historical periods in China.
The earliest Teacher's Day in China history is 193 1 year. At that time, famous professors in the education field, such as Taitai and Cheng Qibao, initiated contacts with educators in Beijing and Shanghai, drew up June 6th as Teachers' Day every year, and published the Teacher's Day Declaration, proposing three major goals: improving teachers' treatment, ensuring teachers' work and enhancing teachers' cultivation. Although the birth of this Teacher's Day was not recognized by the Kuomintang government at that time, it had a certain influence in all parts of the country.
In view of the fact that "June 6th" Teacher's Day was organized by teachers spontaneously, the Kuomintang government refused to recognize it. 1939, it was decided to designate August 27th, the birthday of Confucius, as Teacher's Day, and the Interim Measures for the Commemoration of Teacher's Day was issued. At that time, it was not implemented nationwide.
195 1 year, the people of China * * * agreed with the Ministry of Education of China and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions * * to designate May 1 day as Teachers' Day. For various reasons, Teacher's Day actually gradually disappeared.
"I don't know why, when I got up that morning, I suddenly thought that teachers should have their own festivals." Professor Wang Zikun, the earliest creator of Teacher's Day and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, said this.
It was1984 65438+February 9, and Professor Wang told the Beijing Evening News that day. The next day, Beijing Evening News published an article "President Wang Zikun suggested to carry out activities of respecting teachers and valuing morality", which aroused strong response from readers. 65438+February 65438+May, Zhong Jingwen, Qi Gong, Wang Zikun, Tao Dayong, Zhu Zhixian, Huang Ji and Zhao Qinghuan of Beijing Normal University jointly proposed the establishment of Teacher's Day. 1985 65438+1October 2 1 The Ninth Session of the Sixth the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) made a resolution to designate September 10 every year as Teacher's Day.
In order to carry forward the fine tradition of "respecting teachers and attaching importance to teaching" and improve teachers' status, the ninth meeting of the 6th the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) (1985 1) decided to designate September 10 as China Teachers' Day every year. On the first Teachers' Day, Li Xiannian, the then principal, sent a letter of condolence to the teachers all over the country to congratulate the festival, and the capital held a celebration meeting of 10,000 people. During Teacher's Day, 20 provinces and cities * * * commended 187 1 provincial outstanding teachers' collectives and individuals.
In fact, as early as 1932, the Kuomintang government had designated June 6 as Teacher's Day. After liberation, June 6 was abolished as Teacher's Day, and at the same time, it was changed to "May 1 International Labor Day" as Teacher's Day. However, teachers have no separate activities and no characteristics. September 10 Teacher's Day is set in consideration of the new school year in universities, middle schools and primary schools all over the country, and schools should have a new atmosphere. When freshmen enter school, they begin to respect teachers and attach importance to teaching, which can create a good atmosphere of "teachers teach well and students learn well" 1985 September 10 is the first teachers' day in China, and teachers have their own festivals since then.
