The Yellow River originates from Zhaqu of ChaHasila Mountain in Bayan Kara Mountain in Qinghai, Kariqu at the northern foot, and Lequle of Yuegu Sect in the west of Haixi in Su Xing, showing a "few" shape. Every year,1600 million tons of sediment is produced, of which1200 million tons flows into the sea, and the remaining 400 million tons remain in the lower reaches of the Yellow River for many years, forming an alluvial plain, which is beneficial to planting.

In ancient times, the Yellow River was vast, abundant and clear. At that time, her name was not Yellow River. The earliest geography book Shuo Wen Jie Zi called it a river, Shan Hai Jing called it a river, Shui Jing Zhu called it a river, and Han Shu Zhuan called it a river.

In the Western Han Dynasty, due to the increasing sediment content in the river, some people called her "turbid river" or "Yellow River", but it was not universally recognized. It was not until the Tang and Song Dynasties that the name of the Yellow River was widely used.
